Fact: Walking in on sex can be damaging for an individual.

Walking in on your cousin having sex, while wearing a football helmet, and his girlfriend wearing cat ears, causes irreperable damage to your psyche.

Wrong. The animal that kills the most humans each year would actually be THE HUMAN. Rolling Eyes

allow me to fix up my post. the animal which isnt human that kills the most humans on a yearly basis is the hippo.

so your hippo beats my ~2 million dead moskito? Very Happy

mosquitos dont kill people. they transmit diseases that kill people. so, my hippo does indeed beat your mosquito.

I bet that 50% of the time the hippo only deals wounds to the human, which will then kill the human over time. so half of your deads are not taken into account then? Rolling Eyes

id say so. still, hippos are damn scary things. dont mess with them

@YETI: i dont think the space shuttle would have been the fastest. given that it had to carry a human payload, certain precautions would have had to be taken.

Good point, the unmanned Pioneer probes probably got a little bit faster, though not all that much, 'cos rocket technology just isn't that good so far in the grand scheme of things.

Upshot of it is though, the top speed of anything on - or made on - Earth is really titchy compared to light. Heaven help us if we ever reach relativistic speeds and have to start factoring time dilation and the like into journey times on a regular basis....

He later told me "At least you didn't walk in on the time we were behind the swimming pool..."

Does that answer your question?

Raini: Laughing I can still picture it. It's a rather frightening thought.

My only thought is: why a football helmet and cat ears? That makes me wonder what the hell they were roleplaying. O.o

Actually, she wore those damn things all the time. To school, out with friends, ect. And apparently, even during sex.

Quick Edit: Don't ask me about the helmet, I really don't want to know.

Sleep-talking - or to give it it's proper name, Somniloquy - is surprisingly common, with up to half of all children talking in their sleep at some point or other, dropping to about 1 in 25 amongst adults.

While it can be distressing to other people hearing it, it is almost invariably harmless to the somniloquist themselves.

It apparently runs in families according to Wikipedia, though I am unaware of anyone else in my family ever experiencing it. Also I developed it in puberty, having previously only ever sleepwalked. The other thing about such sleep disorders of course, is that they can be quite embarrassing depending on how people see them presenting (and who sees them). My sister was usually pretty okay about talking to me while I was asleep, though I did seriously freak her (and me) out once when she couldn't wake me as I started screaming at her in my sleep....then woke up in mid-scream. That was terrifying to both of us.

Fact: Taking a shot of window cleaner, while not a good idea, is not hazardous to your health. (But it may give you the runs)

This is not always true...

I had "night terrors" a lot when I was a kid, and to this day I'm still an odd sleeper... I don't sleepwalk as much as I used to, but from time to time I will do it. It's unsettling waking up somewhere else, but it's not that bad.

[Edit: Misread... sleep-TALKING, not WALKING... ]
