What Constitutes Cheating?

I am a one woman kind of guy. When I'm with a girl (psychotic though she may be) I would never do anything with another girl.

But there are many schools of thought.

There is the Very Open belief which is that you can have sex with another person as long as its just to fulfill sexual desires and you get your emotional fulfillment from your partner.

There is the Open mindset which says you can make out, but not sleep with, another girl/guy and it doesn't constitute cheating.

There is the Traditional mindset which I have, which basically says anything more than a hug or maybe a kiss from a very close friend is cheating.

And then there is the Closed mindset which means you cannot have any physical contact with another woman who isn't family while you are dating.

I hesitate to mention Very Closed where some girls actually believe that (ahem) taking care of it yourself is cheating...

Where does flirting factor in to that?

I'd say 'traditional', with flirting allowed. I probably wouldn't encourage it, but I wouldn't have a huge problem if my gf flirted with another guy (as long as it sticks to words and never goes beyond, and she was honest with me about it). Though she's not particularly the flirting kind, so I don't have much to think about there.

Really, any sort of flirtatious or sexual contact directed at anyone other than your lover is cheating.

However, what constitutes as flirting is a question in and of itself. If you treat a person well, by which I mean to say better than you typically would, and you do so in the hopes of there being some sort of return, then I would call that flirting. Being "overly friendly" with someone who is already your friend or "acting cute" to get attention really says more about an individual's personality than it does their faithfulness.

As for, ahem, "taking care of oneself"... Yeah, that's not cheating. Nor is "Visual Aid". However, in the case of "visual aid", I do believe it is important for your lover to be comfortable with the fact that you use it.

physical contact with someone you're not dating is fine, as long as it doesn't involve the lips or groping or anything like that. sex is a no-no. especially before marriage. to get out their sexual desires alone is not an excuse to do it with other people xD

After having a think about this on the bus I worked out the correct answer.

Cheating is what ever SHE thinks cheating is, your opinion doesn't matter what so ever in this situation (unless your Raini and Miss Prime Blue in which case you are both right!)
