I dunno, I can side with both. While yeah for some it's just an excuse to be loving or wtfever for one day, for others it gives them an excuse to do things together and just show they love each other that much more. Depends on the person, I guess.

Up until a couple of years ago, I had never had a girlfriend. Hell, girls avoided me as if I was the hulk, because I was a loser. But I never hated Valentine's day. Since I didn't have a girlfriend, it was just a normal day to me. Just like a christian person doesn't celebrate a muslim holiday.

In the end, it all falls down on jealousy. Poor people hate rich people. Single people hate Valentine's day. The psychology behind it is simple.

Life is what you make it. If you go around sulking, your life will surely not be that awesome.

I take my girlfriend out regularly without there being a particular reason. I just also take her out on Valentine's day and other special days. You guys are seeing it a little too much in black and white.
