You do know nintendo still makes royalties off snes games, right? |
O.o Nintendo still sells snes games?
Also TH, I strongly disagree with you. If you don't want to pay for it, don't play. If they are not worth the price, then you wouldnt be missing anything then. The people in the game industry know that games are expensive. But it's either that or making the development teams smaller, the tools cheaper, the development hardware slower.. so you get worse games. I bet that you don't know that in reality most games released leave loses instead of winnings? so many game developers need more than just 1 job and work in inhumane conditions. Check out the special case of EA games, the bastards that make people sleep in their offices so you can crack their games 2 days before they are released. Most startup companies fail. By most, I mean that I know like at most about 20 persons that have succeded in starting making games, in all my life time. Things wouldn't be like this if people didn't cracked games. And you are contributing to it. |

No.
You see, everytime a magazine or tv ad wants to use a nintendo character they have to get permission from nintendo to use it, whether the game is still being made or not.
Apparently, roms violate this law. _________________

As Freedan said in several posts ages ago
Roms don't really hurt the big companies compared to the little ones and its people that bitch about "how their game isn't release on time".
These companies put their time and effort into a game, then when people starting bitching, they have to rush the production of the game, which in turn lowers the game's overall performance then people bitch about how crap the game is. I'm not gonna write death letters to Namco hurry their arses up with Tekken 5 if it doesn't come out in July, I'll just be pissed off, but it'll be well worth the wait when it does come.
The point I'm trying to say is, its not only the lack of money that hurts the company its the lack of time (IMO). _________________ You're just a human being, my dear, sweet child |

me downloading roms wouldn't hurt companies anyway ... if im downloading the rom its either cause im testing to see if i wanna buy it ... or just to have a quick look at the game and either way i wouldn't buy it regardless ... so if anything from me they would make money from roms _________________ It's high time I revised this signature. |

First off all, where i live they cant touch me for owning illegal games.
The only thing illegal here is distrubuting pirate games. And i didnt do that.
Anyway, where is even a dutch anti-piracy thingy called BIG. Anyway, i think after only 30min after they made themselves public they where hacked. Ppl laugh at them and there commercials and fact has it, they aint got any foothold on pirating games.
Legally they can barrely do anything and only to mayor pirate netoworks. and even then, its very hard to even find them or make up any case that will stand in court.
Bassicly, piracy on games, atleast on holland, is a hard to stop process by the laws we uphold.
Games had always cost a whole alot cash, sicne they got us that dmaned euro, game prices went up another 50% in cost, juz like that. _________________ Its nice to be important, but its more important to be nice. |

If I tried to list every single game I own, the list would deserve a page unto itself...
I have about 120 NES games, thirty SNES, a dozen Genesis, 20 PS 1 (Prolly more), 20 N64 games, about a dozen PS2, four or five GC, and four Saturn games (Yes I own a Sega Saturn), and two games for the Dreamcast.
My numbers are probably way off, but I know for a fact my NES collection is in the 100 area, as I've always thought how cool it'd be to own the entire US library (Some 820 games), and I'm an 1/8th the way there. =P

I demand to know your address so I can play all those games
TH:
They wouldn't be able to touch me either.. seems that the only advantages of an underdeveloped country are that we don't have laws against hacking, stealing programs, etc... no technological laws yet XD
The problem is, that when you get the games for free, the developers don't get their reward for their hard work...
I don't really care much if it's done after the first 3 months.. I could accept that, with much struggling, but its acceptable coz most of the income from a game comes during the first 3 months. However, what income is someone going to get, if his game is cracked before it is even released? |
