I just got woken up from my sleep to find out there is a mandatory evacuation for my town starting at 3PM today, with the hurricane expected to hit tomorrow at 5PM. So, if you don't hear from me in a few days, I'm probably a few feet under water. Very Happy

But seriously, this is ridiculous. I've lived in this area for over twenty years, and not once have we ever been told to evacuate before. Anyone else in the path of Irene besides myself?

Ouch, a hurricane? Well, make sure all your awesome stuff is upstairs if you got an upstairs, and board up some windows. Be safe, yeah?

Unfortunately, we live in the bottom of a two family home, so all my stuff is at flood level. That said, I'm making sure my most treasured stuff survives- some of my old writings, some pictures, ect. More than anything, I'm glad the rest of my family is already gone- despite the evacuation, I'm still at home, readying the place for mine and my brothers departure.

Irene (hurricane) is going to hit my area (Virginia Beach, east from Norfolk) in tomorrow then Sunday (hurricane eye). I hope I will be ok after I have made preparations. I never had a hurricane since I moved in the city seven years ago.

Right now, I can't see sunlight or stars anymore bc of heavy clouds from hurricane.

[edit] I checked hurricane alert today. Irene degraded itself to category 2. Let's hope it stay in that condition or less to gone.

Stuff all of the things like a 360 or computer into the closet. I know mine in my parents house and my apartment have an upper shelf in them; put things in there if you can. Smile

Oh great. Water is leaking into my house though the roof. It leaks near outside my bedroom just though attic trapdoor. I wonder how much longer we can hold out against leaks until anything set down?

I will expect worst conditions around 1 pm to 2 pm today.

I woke up, all prepared to leave... the storm got downgraded to a tropical storm (In essence, no where near as bad as we were led to believe) I actually slept through the entire thing. My friends out of power where I was staying, powers on back here. I helped out some people who had lost their entire basement earlier- I'm all gross with basement water and need a shower.

Mostly though, few downed power lines and a few leaky basements. All in all, Jersey got lucky.
