PROLOGUE: The Outbreak
Waning Half Moon
Freedan
HP: 50/ 50
Stamina: 10/ 10
Infection: 0%
Weight: 4/60
"Wake up, Freedan," came a voice.
Freedan rose slowly to his feet, but his eyes were still closed. He opened them and saw before him the music room of an elaborate mansion.
"Where am I?" Freedan asked to nobody in particular.
He looked around the room and saw a computer screen. It was open to a webpage that he had never seen before.
"Aegis.com?" Freedan asked as he perused the page.
After examining the page for a short while, he heard rustling from just outside. He reached instinctively for his sniper rifle, but all there was in its place was a baseball bat.
"Well, this is familiar," Freedan cursed as he creeped forward to investigate the sound.
In the hallway, there was a projector, playing a dodgy old video.
"Heh. That's amusing," Freedan chuckled, watching the video.
Suddenly he heard the voice again.
"Freedan? Freedan can you hear me?"
It was the voice on his radio. How had he forgotten?
"This is Freedan. What is it?"
"Jeez, you scared me," came the voice of Natal, Freedan's protege. "Did you find anything at the mansion?"
"No," Freedan sighed. "This place is just, empty and dead. But some spooky stuff has been happening around here."
"I hear you. Well come on back to WereHouse, I want to show you some data we uncovered," Natal said.
---
WereHouse was Freedan's home, and had been for the past year and two months. It was hidden in the dark forest southwest of Euro. It was secluded and only a few people even knew it existed.
"What have you got for me, Natal?" Freedan asked.
"Well first off, I don't know if you saw it or not, but I added that journal feature you requested. Now, as soon as the Admins restore the site, you'll have complete access to the files," Natal began.
"That's good. What else?" Freedan continued.
"Well... you're not going to like this much. But I managed to uncover some of Sergeant Riley's files," Natal began.
Sergeant Major Riley, Freedan's old commander, had recently succumbed to the undead. Nobody knew what had happened, and Aegis Corp wasn't saying anything.
And then, about twelve hours ago, a major outbreak occured at an Aegis training facility. The zombies were among the world again...
"You can peruse these files if you want... but they are pretty unpleasant..."
Sgt. Riley's Files
Last Video Feed
Riley's Return to Ground Zero
Disciplinary Hearing.txt
"What do we do now?" Natal asked.
"Well wait and see if anybody else joins us..." Freedan sighs.

inferiare
HP: 75/ 75
Stamina: 10/ 10
Infection: 100%
Weight: 4/ 50
inferiare looks up at the night sky from just in front of Lake Cass. There is something fulfilling about looking up at the sky, though she can't remember what. She lifts up her baseball bat and smiles bleakly.
"I used to love to kill..." she remembers brutally. "Let us see if tonight will afford us any more joy..."

ROUND 1: Behold the Darkness
Date and Time
---
July 12
Morning - Afternoon - Evening - Night
Weather Conditions
---
Raining
New Moon - Waxing Half Moon - Full Moon - Waning Half Moon
Play BGM
---
psychokind:
An alley near Alpine Avenue, Euro...
The rain pours down on the city of Euro. The cool water does not bother psychokind, who leans back against the wall of the nearby apartment building.
He senses somebody approach from around the corner. Recognizing the similar black trenchcoat, he identifies him as another member of his order.
"Brother Vladrac. Good to see you," psychokind nods.
"I could not resist your invitation, Brother Psychokind," Vladrac smiles, his goatee the only visible thing under his hood.
"You know why I have summoned you?" Psychokind asked.
Vladrac ponders this for a moment. "The Aegis Corporation... but they are not a threat by themselves."
"I agree, however, they are not the only party in this mess anymore," psychokind continues. "Are you aware that the Lycanthropes are banding together?"
"Werewolves?" Vladrac lets out a barking laugh. "You are worried about the mutts, psychokind?"
"No. Just one of them. He is the one who killed Brother Lioncourt almost two years ago," psychokind explains.
"Brother Lioncourt?" Vladrac exclaims.
"His death was no accident. It was him... that Freedan," psychokind sighs. "I am Lioncourts heir, and as such I have done what I must."
psychokind opens his trenchcoat, revealing a glowing orb in the center of his chest.
"You are synthesizing his essence? This transfusion will take some time," Vladrac ponders.
"A full moon cycle from tonight," psychokind nods. "But I must do this. We are at the beginning of a grand war between the mortals and the undead."
Vladrac places his hands together in a sort of prayer. "Lord Alucard, please watch over us!"
"The hall of Dracula is far from us. We shall prevail," psychokind nodded.
"We are little more than strangers in this town, and you are weakened," Vladrac notes.
"I will be fine. You know the rules. We must find out what happened here, what caused this outbreak, destroy the source of it all, and... if I get the chance... I intend to punish Freedan for his offense of the Order of Alucard," psychokind nodded. "So feed only when necessary, reveal yourself to nobody."
"But of course," Vladrac nods. "Where are you heading?"
"I don't know. I have several leads, I'll have to decide where to go from here," psychokind nods. "And mind the zombies. They may be weak individually, but in large groups they can undo us."
Vladrac salutes psychokind and disappears into the street.
psychokind sighs. "Now, where should I go?"
Options:
A) Go to Aegis Corp, Wyrick Business Park
That would certainly be the best place to start my examination of the Aegis Corporation... but it is also allegedly ground zero of the outbreak.
B) Go to the Old Mansion, Dark Forest.
That mansion has been around for eons. Rumor has it this isn't the first time that an outbreak like this has occurred, and perhaps that mansion may hold some secrets.
C) Go to the Pub, Water Rd.
The pub is one of the few strongholds of mortals left in town. Everywhere else is overrun by the undead. Perhaps I could gather information there.
---
Freedan
"The Full Moon was last night. That means our brothers should be coming towards us. Assuming the beacon worked," Freedan began.
"My beacon worked just fine. Thanks for going to the mansion and not.. you know... eating me," Natal chuckled.
"But of course," Freedan nodded.
Natal and Freedan had an agreement. Freedan had asked if Natal had wished to become a Werewolf, but Natal said he needed to remain sane when the others could not. As such, he was the only human allowed in WereHouse.
The other Werewolves had come and gone sporadically. But last night, Natal had tried using a beacon which would lead all the werewolves to WereHouse.
Slowly the door opened, and a small band of werewolves came walking in. One man set his coat on the coat rack and took a seat, as if waiting for orders. A woman next to him was playing with her cell phone.
"I count eight. With me that makes nine. Nine is a good number," Freedan nods.
"So we got the message," shouts a spunky looking teenage boy. "What gives?"
"What you see before you is a specialized building for werewolves. I built it shortly after meeting Natal here," Freedan began. "With the undead rising again, we can bet that zombies are not the only thing that is coming back. Vampires, ourselves, ghosts, ju-ons... they are all back here."
"So?" The boy asks.
"Werewolves are not like the other undead. We are still human truly. I was human only a year and a half ago and I thought that I had stopped the undead threat. But... as I have come to suspect, we were only dealing with a vanguard for a much greater threat," Freedan sighs. "The Aegist Corporation. I don't know what they have done, but... they've wrought something terrible upon us."
There was a small bit of approving muttering.
"So what do we do?" The woman asks.
"This house is for your safety. I'm afraid only I am qualified to fight what lies out there. If you stay in WereHouse you are agreeing to not hunt humans. None of the humans will bother you here," Freedan explains.
"And how do you know that?" A man asks.
"I've made a deal with an old friend," Freedan nods.
The people all nod their approval and make their way further into the house.
Natal shrugs. "That was about as smooth as it could have gone. So what are you going to do?"
"I need to get some clues, but I can't get into Aegis HQ. I better start looking around town," Freedan sighs.
"It's a ghost town in there man. Once you go in you might not come back out," Natal says.
"Heh. Like I have a choice in the matter," Freedan shrugs, picking up his baseball bat. "I just hope I can find something better than this."
Options:
A) Return to the Old Mansion, Dark Forest
Didn't really get the chance to scope that place out so well last time. Maybe I can get a better idea of what to do.
B) Head to Four Corners Shopping Mall, Main Street, Euro
The shopping mall has some areas that are human strongholds and other parts that are owned by the zombies. But more importantly, I might be able to find some useable gear.
C) Head to Fort Cass
The fort has been overrun and the military is practically useless right now... but it'd be nice to know if my friends are all right.
---
EverPhoenix/ Chicken/ Blade
The door the front of the barracks has been locked for six hours now. Sgt. Riley has not reported back in 48 hours. Officially this disaster has only been in effect for two hours, but that can't be right.
"Hell of a reunion," Chicken sighs, taking a sip from his beer.
"Indeed," EverPhoenix nods. "This is a bad situation. Us coming here, hoping the hear some good news from our old war buddies, and they shove our asses in this... box."
"Safety first, right?" Blade chuckles.
Suddenly the lights go dead.
After a moment of fidgeting, Chicken turns on his flashlight. The others turn theirs on as well.
"Well, we're not beating around the bush with this crap are we?" Chicken jokes, raising his pistol.
Blade lifts his army knife and breaks open the lock of the door. "I'm not sitting around to be zombie food, okay?"
EverPhoenix lifts his pistol and the three men slowly make their way down the hallway.
"Three ways out of here. The stairs, the elevator and the roof hatch, what do you think?" EverPhoenix asks.
Options:
A) Take the stairs.
That's probably the fastest and safest way out... when there aren't zombies running loose in your fort.
B) Take the elevator hatch.
The elevator won't run when the powers blown, but we might be able to get down using the shafts.
C) Take the roof access.
We'd have to use the fire-escape from there... or jump off a six-story building.
---
inferiare
The waters of Lake Cass begin to tremble. Suddenly a small horde of zombies begin to crawl out of the lake.
"My loyal servants return to me," inferiare smiles.
But the zombies do not appear to be friendly. They move towards inferiare. As one tries to grab her she jumps back.
"I don't understand!" She shouts. "They won't listen to me!"
The zombies continue to shamble towards her.
"Of course... the orb of control. I don't have it! Without it I'm nothing more than mortal food for them..." inferiare sighs.
She bludgeons one down with her baseball bat, but more continue to come.
"I'll have to find some way out of this mess..." inferiare shrugs.
Options:
A) Head to the Old Mansion, Dark Forest
There's something odd about that mansion. Perhaps it might hold some clues.
B) Head to the Four Corners Shopping Mall, Main Street, Euro
A large cluster of humans, zombies, and supplies. As long as I remain mortal I will need sustenance.
C) Head to Aegis Corp., Wyrick Business Park, Euro.
That is where this mess began. Perhaps it's worth taking a look at. _________________ Current Avatar commissioned work by Seiken Arts.
