You can tell whoever drew these wards were not only highly literate in their field but had impeccable penmanship and handwriting. Based on the archaic nature of the wards and the attention to detail you would either assume an Arcane Scientist or somebody highly skilled in spell lore.

You break two wooden planks off of the chest and use a strip cut from your medical robe to make a makeshift cross.

You then head up to the floor above you.

You see a small library. You can see several books of various sciences all around you. There is only one door leading out, which leads out into what would appear to be the main hallway of this building.

First I try to take a guess which the most common scientific field is represented in the books to get a better guess what kind of facility I'm in.

I'll then search some books for empty pages and take them along. I look for something like a pen, if there is one I'll make some improvised wards out of the empty pages. If not, I just take the pages and move on to the hallway.

After that I'll look cautiously out the door after grabbing my stuff (and clothes!) to look around and find out where the hell I am.

i'll first kick the coffin for lack of padding inside, then slip on the clothing and look over the weapon. not a sniper weapon, but still a gun either way.

after that, painstakingly resist the urge to find out how the door works and instead cautiously climb up the ladder.

You see that most of the books focus on biology and chemistry. A quick scan of the inside cover of the first page tells you everything you need to know.

The name of the city is scratched out, and the symbol for Sigma replaces it. You read a few more books and see this has been done on all the books here. There is no possible way to decipher the name of the city through the thick ink and false writing placed over it.

You grab a few empty pages from the books but see no pen in sight. You realize, however, that without an altar the wards would be useless. You'll have to find a church somewhere out there.

You head out into the hallway.

You see that there are no wards or markings out here. There are several rooms connected to this main hallway. Looking back in the hallway you see that your name is written in red ink over the door. You see the names of, presumably, five other test subjects on similar doors.

At the end of the hallway is a foyer, and you see a shadowy presence moving around. Your gut tells you that this is not a test subject.

You hear movement from behind the door labeled EverPhoenix.

You head upstairs and find yourself in a small computer lab. Through the foggy crystal windows you see a shadow moving out in the hallway.

You furiously kick the wooden coffin and manage to avoid breaking your toe in the process. You then turn and put on your clothes.

The revolver appears to be in good condition, and each of its 6 chambers are loaded with a round. It's been a while since you've fired one of these, but you feel confident you can hit your mark with it.

Upon leaving the room you notice that the door was on a timer mechanism. That sates your curiosity enough to continue heading upstairs.

The room you are in appears to be a security room. To your left is the main foyer. You almost shriek as a shadowy figure walks past the foggy crystal window.

You can just feel its evil energy, and know that this one is not friendly.

Out in the hallway you can smell a human walking around. You don't get any bad vibes from him at the moment. In the room to your right, where the only door out leads, you can see the shape of a woman wandering around.

I'll check my gun to be fully loaded, then I pray to the lord to be merciful with the unknown presence and not let it react hostile towards me, since purging it would be unavoidable then.

I then go towards the presence, and prompt it to step out of the darkness and reveal his intentions.

First I check if the clothes were made of animals, and then I put them on & gather the equipment, including the letter. Then I focus on the situation I'm in (it really pisses me off, since I do't like oppression), and carefully walk out of the cell, towards the elevator.

EverPhoenix walks out into the main corridor and sees psychokind. Psycholkind raises his gun but sees the Sigma symbol etched on the back of EverPhoenix's hand.

"Hmph!" Psychokind curses. "Just my luck. Were it not for that symbol, you'd already be dead."

"Keep telling yourself that," EverPhoenix replies, noticing psychokind also wears a similar symbol.

"Okay what's going on out here?" comes inferiare's voice. She walks out and Psychokind and EverPhoenix both raise their weapons, but instantly lower them upon seeing her symbol.

"Another Zombie Elite... well this is thrilling," Psychokind curses. "God works in mysterious ways, but I don't understand why he chose this to be my cross to bear."

"Can I nom on him?" inferiare asked, annoyed.

"He's another test subject like you and me. The letter said not to kill any other test subject and I'd rather not risk breaking that fairly simple rule," EverPhoenix explained. "Until we know more about this place at least."

"Is it safe?" Comes a soft, shy voice. The three turn their heads to behind inferiare to see sora-mage creeping down the wall towards them.

"What's a little girl doing here?" EverPhoenix asked.

"For your information I'm over 100 years old," sora-mage replied. "I'm a Vampire, you see?"

She showed off her small, but deadly looking fangs.

"Is there another human anywhere in this building?" Psychokind asks.

"You're going to be disappointed I'm afraid," Blade says as he walks into the room. "Forgive me for taking so long. Wanted to make sure these clothes weren't made from animals. Turns out their all natural cotton."

There was a stunned silence.

"You know, Hippies are still human, right kid?" EverPhoenix said.

"Ah, yes. But werewolves are, at best, half-human," Blade corrected. "My what an odd place. I suppose you all are my fellow test subjects."

Psychokind moved back against the wall, closest to Blade over anybody else. He didn't like any other race aside from human, but right now Blade was right. He was the closest thing to a human here.

"I guess that means we all got a letter," Psychokind said.

The five looked at each other, and the sudden realization of their situation hit them.

"We're not supposed to say..." sora-mage said.

"I don't particularly care what this note says. Why should we have to do what it says anyways?" inferiare asked.

Excellent question, came a voice from an intercom above the door leading out to where the ominous shadow moved back and forth. Site Sigma is under our control and we are watching each of you. That symbol is a brand that we can use to control you, or force you into submission. If you need an example of what we do with insubordinates... go take a look at what happened to your fellow test subject, Ben.

Psychokind kicked down the door with Ben's name and raised his gun.

Oh, ho ho ho. He's not there anymore.

There was a loud claxon-like sound and the door to the exit slammed open as a body flew through the air towards them. The body was of a human man in his early 40s, which had been torn to shreds.

I think you've made the Gate Guardian a little angry. And look. He seems hungry, don't you think?

The intercom clicked off and the shadow moved closer. In the glow of the emergency lighting they could barely make out what looked like a giant humanoid with scales instead of skin and spikes all through his body. Upon closer inspection the spikes were actually large railroad spikes that had been driven through his body. He carried a massive sword and lumbered slowly towards them.

"Who the hell was that?" sora-mage shouted.

"We don't really have time to talk about that now!" EverPhoenix shouted.

"Just as well, I've been eager to shoot something since I woke up," psychokind hissed.

"Do we have to fight?" Blade asked.

"Well you could lay down and die, save us the trouble!" inferiare shouted back.

"Hey!" sora-mage shouted back. "Come on guys! Focus!"

Battle Tutorial

Exclamation RANGE Exclamation

Range determines how close you are to the enemy. You can use any equipped weapon at any time, but you will suffer roll penalties if you attempt to use a weapon for another range. For instance if you're at Mid Range but attempt to use a Close range weapon, the attack power will be reduced to compensate for having to move to that range. The upside is that you will return to whatever Range you were at before the action.


Move allows you to move to an optimal range to use any of your weapons. The upside is that on your next turn after a move, you will get a bonus. The downside is that this will change your range to the monster until you Move again.

Bear in mind, sometimes enemies will Move too, which can change the range you're at.


Attacks attacking with your weapons are your primary mode of offense, and can be boosted with perks.

Trigger Commands will appear in some fights, allowing you to do something unique, enter a vehicle, or get a bonus hit or finishing move.
