          | Technically, I am American. However, during the time Monroe was alive, he popularized the term 'America for the Americans', which had double sense. During that time, Europe wanted to take advantage of America. So the right sense was that they should leave America's treasures to the continent. However, the right sense was that they meant that the continent treasures should be for them. That's from where the term American started to be used as something different. From what I know, many europeans consider America no the continent, but the United States of America.
I just tried to translate something from spanish that roughly means 'someone from the United States' and it translated to American. Shame.

Anyways, have your happy 4th of July people from the United States of America

No fireworks for me. My brats almost burned up. My butt splashed by boys with water guns after I found out old super water cannon need lots of pump for big splash. And I had to stay at my sister's to look after her children. I'm stuck for at least 4 days.

I got to buy shield/water gun to get my revenge on boys.

          | My sleeping habits are all messed up so I missed ALL the fireworks. My bro went to a leadership training camp so he couldn't see them anyway. We bought some fireworks before he left, however, and plan to fire 'em up when he gets back in a week. _________________

 Agreed.
Anyway, it seems many people are aware of the "real" term of America, but almost the whole world considers Amerca as the US and of course worldwide newspapers do not hesitate to use this term that way.

Damnit, it's the same with "communism" and "socialism"

I hope you guys enjoyed the 4th July!
