Freedan Posted: Mon Jun 27, 2005 11:17 pm Post subject: I love spam emails |
|
|
There's nothing I love more than checking my inbox to see it rife with unsolicited email. In fact, I can't get enough of it. I love seeing advertisements to increase my dick size three-fold, lose weight while eating anything I want (including 12 burgers a day), or getting 'FREE PR0N NOW!'.
^ As you can see, these people have generously offered me free Subway subs for a year (though I'm free to choose a different brand if I'm so inclined). And all I have to do is click a link to verify that my email address is a working one (allowing for more spam), signing up/paying for TWO different deals, and asking for more spam (in the form of future emails about their great and wonderful products). Plus, a few other "eligibility requirements" that I'm sure they didn't list here.
I'd be a sucker NOT to take it. I mean, hey... free sandwiches.
-----
So this thread is mainly for anyone who wants to share any funny/annoying spams they've gotten. Come on people, I know you get them. _________________

I get e-mails from "Homeland Security", and I tend to get spam e-mails in Spanish (I've done the translating and such on Babelfish). _________________

a problem i've heard with spam e-mails is that there is usually a little image in some part of it that links to their site, whether it be clear or some design, when the image loads it verify's the fact that your email exists opening up the doorway for more spam ... only heard it, but sounds true enough.
Edity: thats why i either let hotmail auto delete it after so many days being in my junk mail folder, or empty the junk mail folder after moving any real emails outta there, don't even bother opening the junk mail. _________________ It's high time I revised this signature. |

Never have spam emails since I switched to Cox.net cable internet last year. Good to have sense of peace.
I do remember spam email about buying land on the moon... but it turn out completed stupid scam. Rest of them are regular like mortage, quick rich, freebies, coupons, you could name them. Few ones loaded with viruses.
Yeah... spam emails is bad for computers. _________________

That sounds like a commercial quote...
Spam mail that I get is about morgage, work and bad stuff. It would be cool if they sent me a "Want part of the Moon?" email! |

- What's fhrimm?
- The alias (email address) you send it to, does not exist. (I still get it because I use catch all but it gets moved directly to my spam folder)
- Interesting URL you have there... zcYRpZCB.com ..that's easy to remember, isn't it?
- Unsub link doesn't work
- Gibberish from address
- Hello? (no name, how friendly)
- We haven't talked. Ever.
- polarographhaines... okay..way to bullshit e-mail address
- The alias still doesn't exist
- Another of those interesting URLs
- I don't know who the hell you are, Odessa person
- The all populair virus e-mail
- I have a virusscanner though... silly people.
- Funny how the actual e-mail content contains the words Attachment: No Virus Found, and yet my locally installed virusscanner found a virus... those liars o.o

Panda research. Wow.
Point of interest.... the subject line for this particular email was "We want your opinions, get paid for 'em". Well, it just so happens that my opinion is whoever sent me this message should eat shit. Now they owe me $400.
The most interesting part is that little legal disclaimer at the bottom, where the sender claims that this can't be considered spam because of some Congress ruling. Bullshit, I say. And here's why.
Not spam, my ass.
If you don't want to be bothered reading all that stuff, the main point is that
unsolicited email must contain a few things to not be considered spam. These things are: the name, address, email address and phone number of the person who sent it to you.
*Looks up*
Hmm... no name, no number, no valid email address (all I see is 'Survey Rewards <offers185660691@taxofficial.net>')
Regardless, it would be spam anyway, since the US "law" to make spam legal if it met certain conditions never became law in the first place.
More testimony to that fact.
And finally, turning to our old friend, dictionary.com, spam is: 2: unwanted e-mail (usually of a commercial nature sent out in bulk)
QED, spamming jackasses. _________________

Before switched to cox.net, I usually get over 200 junk emails daily on old yahoo account (prodigy.net before merging with sbc services). That means I had sort out junk emails out of inbox every days. Every time I put new filter, it screw out my nintendo or pc newsletters, perhaps few emails from relatives as junk emails..... boy, I hate junk emails. _________________

I generally don't get spam e-mails, so I'm not too worried. Plus, hotmail filters them out for me so I don't get them. I only get one or two a week. _________________

@Freedan: A loophole may be that they didn't state which country's law or whatever they're using. _________________ It's high time I revised this signature. |

Since they said the US Congress passed that law, and the company is (supposedly) stationed in California, I'm assuming it's American law they were talking about. _________________
