You got it already assembledy? Have you at least opened it up and messed around inside? I'm assuming you did to put in new HDD, but you might have paid someone else to do it. Very Happy

Actually it was a Christmas present so I could play FFXI when I got it two years ago. My dad (after having some slight troubles) installed it for me.

So, here's spec. of my custom computer:
- Cooler Master Praetorian (black)
- AMD Duron 1400 1033 Mhz
- Sis K7SOM+ motherboard with embedded 256-bit AGP Graphics Accelerator with 64MB frame buffer
- 5 ports USB 2.0
- 2x 512 MB Corsair RAMs
- 40 GB hdd (used for OS and other softwares)
- 120 GB Maxtor hdd (used for PC games, media, images, backup, and other files)
- Combo/DVD drive (no DVD-R or DVD-RW)
- CD-R/RW drive
- 3.5 Floppy drive
- Zboard keyboard (
- Belkin n30 Gaming Mouse (outdated ball mouse..uh! but still love 'wing button')
- Belkin n52 SpeedPad (most useful gaming tool for FPS games)
- Cox.net High Speed cable modem
- D-Link wireless router
- 17" monitor Samsung
- Digital Satellite (5 USB 2.0 ports, 2 outlets, phone and lan ports) which it came in with computer desk as freebie. Very useful for recharging DS, tools, gamepads or joysticks.

My computer could hand any of emulators (barely on N64 games) or old PC games like JKII on high grahpics settings. But it cant deal with new games of today... Mad

I will put up new specs after I get upgrades done.

That's exactly what I did, if you meant the SmartJoy USB adapter. Just waiting for it to arrive in the mail. I saved my SNES controllers for that.

Guys you turned my controller topic into a PC specs topic Crying or Very sad

Just kidding I don't mind. Cool

If your emulator is crashing, I'm not sure why, this is all still new to me. But maybe there are some corrupt or trick Roms out there. Like when a new music CD comes out, sometimes they'll send out a ton of fake music mp3's through the file sharing networks to discourage people from getting the music for free. I doubt Nintendo or any other game company would bother with that. But maybe some would be vigilante amateurs are doing that because they're loyal fanboys of a particular game company.

I would delete everything relating to emulators and roms you have and even do an updated virus scan. Then try everything again but download from a different site than you usually do. There has to be a way for you to play the games. They work fine on my computer and most everyone else's.

I'm looking for a controller with several buttons...
I got FFXI recently and I want to try using a controller, because I'm hoping it has similar controls to previous FF games. I guess I should talk to Raini about it Neutral

I'm thinking one of those Joysticks with shitloads of buttons that we saw in Harvey Norman would be good for that and then you've also got one hand free for Keyboard.

Well I did it. I got the Super SmartJoy adapter in the mail today and hooked it up. Now I can use my SNES controller on the PC to play the ZSNES! I'm all set.

I really think the SNES controller is the best controller to use for SNES roms. The 8-way directional pads I've tried on other PC controllers suck bad.

Since I obviously don't have any extra controller buttons for Save State, Load State, and Fast Forward, I just use the Shift keys and Space bar and that's fine. It kinda discourages me from abusing these godly powers anyways, which means I can enjoy the games more for what they are.

If you play ZSNES, I strongly suggest you get one of these, and an SNES controller if you don't have one, for it. No software to install, just configure the buttons in the ZSNES. It's so worth it.

I'd prefer to use a Playstation Dual Shock 2 controller.

Actually I know what you mean. I'm used to the Logitech dual analog I have, which is pretty much like a PS2 controller. I still use it for GTA and Need For Speed games. And the SNES controller does feel small and cut down compared. I just wish I can put the directional pad from the SNES controller onto the Logitech one.

Some stuff about your computer:

- AMD Duron 1400 1033 Mhz
- 2x 512 MB Corsair RAMs

Maybe you could have just one 512 MB RAM so you could pump up the processor a bit? maybe making it an athlon xp?

- 40 GB hdd (used for OS and other softwares)
- 120 GB Maxtor hdd (used for PC games, media, images, backup, and other files)

O.o why would you ever need more than 120 GBs... heck why would you need more than 80GBs... besides, it's faster if you just have 1 hdd. You could have two partitions anyways. You could have let go the 40GBs hdd for more processor.. don't tell me you are like my bro that has the disk full of downloaded crap and duplicated files and doesn't deletes them :p
