Fellow TEians,
Recently I watched a great movie which I enjoyed immensely (Stranger than Fiction). Which had had inspired me to go out and read literature.
Myself, only reading 2 David Gemmel books (Fantasy), 1 Goosebumps book (horror), A do it yourself adventure book (Fantasy), several picture books and gaming manuals.
What I'm looking for is a book that is thought provoking, also anything that isn't covered by some school's curriculum. Any suggestions? _________________ You're just a human being, my dear, sweet child |

I wouldn't really call Goosebumps a horror ... for books, well I can't really help that much, I likes what I read, you probably would find it boring. Corey might have a better idea, though I'm unsure really. _________________ It's high time I revised this signature. |

Any Edgar Allan Poe or Jules Verne books would fit the bill nicely. _________________

'Mila 18' by Leon Uris. I read that for a project in high school (it wasn't curriculum reading), and it was really good once you got in to it.
It's about World War 2; a story about a bunch of resistance fighters in a ghetto. _________________

If you want surreal books, go for books by Haruki Murakami. I've been reading 'Wind-Up Bird Chronicle' by him. It's a fantastic book.
And if you like fantasy/sci-fi books, Diana Wynn Jones books are awesome (she wrote Howl's Moving Castle, among other books. The Chrestomanci books kick ass too).
If I think of more, I'll post em here. _________________

One more thing, whatever you do, avoid Harry Potter. Instead, read some Mark Twain and CS Lewis, and if you want something philosophical, read Sophie's World by Jostein Gaarder. _________________

I'm not much of a reader, but the one book I just had to read was Stephen King's IT. It's a good coming of age tale, and about 90 percent of favorable reviews all agree it's a great book, but the ending is kind of a let down. _________________ "...at first it's fine and you think you have a dark side – it's exciting – and then you realise the dark side wins every time if you decide to indulge in it.
