Post yours here. Very Happy

Mine are X-Japan, Be For U, TËRRA, Stratovarius and Sonata Arctica.

(Bolded are favourites)

X-Japan is a currently disbanded visual kei japanese power rock band which took Japan like a storm. With Yoshiki, the brainchild and the drummer of the band and Hideki (Deceased) as the lead singer, both the Vocals and the Drums truely shined without being overbearing compared to the Lead and Bass Guitarists who are also quite skilled. Recommended songs are Silent Jealousy, Kurenai, Blue Blood, Rusty Nail, Dahlia, I will Kill You, Eyes on Venus and of course, who can forget the 30-inute progressive masterpiece Art of Live? ^_^

Be For U is a J-pop/rock band who are popular among DDR/DrumMania/GuitarFreaks fans, they produce really good upbeat and mostly energetic techno/rock songs, band members Kosaka Riyu and Noria have individually composed songs of their own too, like Begin. Recommended songs are Break Down!, *Shining*, Love Shine, Chikara, Scenario, Himawari and True...

TËRRA is a J-Rock band fairly recently featured in DrumMania, I listened to it's first song featured in DrumMania 10th mix (We Are) once and instantly loved it. Recommended songs are We Are and Escape to the Sky.

Stratovarius is a power-metal band with interesting bass-pedalwork and good application of rogue triplet drum riffs in their songs, gotta love their songs. Recommended are We Are the Future, Rebel, Phoenix, Legions, Keep the Flame, It's a Mystery, Forever Free, Eagle Heart, Black Diamond, Paradise, Holy Light, Anthem of the World, Speed of Light, SOS, Hunting High and Low, Forever Free and Destiny.

Sonata Arctica is another power metal band like Stratovarius which focuses more on the guitarwork and catchy motifs although their more recent songs starts to show signs of interesting drumwork. Recommended are Black Sheep, Tallulah, Letter to Dana, Mary Lou, Shy, Wolf and Raven, Weballergy, The Power of One (Epic piece!), Destruction Preventer (Another epic piece), San Sebastian, My Land, Kingdom For a Heart, I Want Out (Helloween - Keepers of Jericho Tribute song), Ecliptica, Wrecking the Sphere, Peacemaker, Over the Hills and Far Away, Gate of Fear, Full Moon, Blank File, 8th Commandment and Silver Tongue.

Shocked JOAN!! You like Strato and Sonata??

Laughing Heh, you should check out Rhapsody, also a Power-Metal band, but with a big epic influence, perfect for PRG-Fans

And Over the Hills and Far away is a Nightwish -song (off-topic: I'm going to see Nightwish live!!!)
If he first line is: 'They came for him one winters night...' its the same song, and it came out 2001, maybe Sonata covered this song...

Ok, mine are:

Apocalyptica, Nightwish, Children of Bodom and Eisregen (transl. Icerain)

Apocalyptica became famous wth their album 'Plays Metallica by 4 Chellos', on their next Album they also played some Sepultura and Slayer-songs, now they are even more famous because they were part of the big Gothc-commercialisation that startet 2 years ago, their songs on the new album are only average and boring, they also have some singers on their new tracks, whitch SUXX!!!
But my fav. songs are still: Nothing else matters (Metallica(pure sadnes))
Hope, refuse, resist, Faraway, Hall of the Mountain King and Domination.
Sad they changed...

Nightwish is another band that became Goth-commercialised. But in their gloryous days they where a Melodic-Gothic-Metal BAnd with an epic touch and cool riffs.
Their new album Once is very different from their older masterpieces, also sad that they changed.
My fav. songs are: Elvenpath, beauty and the beast, Moondance, the Pharao sails to Orion, Wanderlust and End of all Hope.
Today I see 13 year old wannabe goths wearing their shirts, they are one of the main commerce-goth-wave-bands, next to the Rasmus, Aocalyptica and L'ame Immortelle... Sad

Children of Bodom started as a Black and Death Metal Band, their 1st Album waas very 'evil' and had only a few good songs, but the following 'Hatebreeder' Album was pure engery, 'Follow the Reaper' had a different touch, and 'Hatecrew deathroll' scratches on Nu Metals doors.
My fav. songs are Lake Bodom, Touch like an angel of Death, Warhearts, Downfall, Hate Me!, Kissing the Shadows, and Bodom Beach Terror.
Muerte once said: they sound like Video-Game music, just better.
Maybe true...

Eisregen is a German Black Metal band, the eye is on their pretty sick lyrics (in german^^). They also have a Violine in their line-up. Simple riffs, not TOO fast, sometime depressing.
On one song tey sing about skinning yourself, on another song about wearing a skirt while a girls rotts and rotts till nothing is left,
My fav. songs are: Schwarze Rose (black rose), des Heilands Haut (the lords skin), dein Blut (your Blood), Zeit zu Spielen (time to play).

Favourite bands? Dear Lord, you want me to turn my post into a novel? Very Happy

Gackt - Started out trying to make a band named Cains Feel (all he released to the record companies was a demo tape). He was quickly picked up by Mana for the band Malice Mizer after their former lead singer Tetsu left (Tetsu sounded like a dying cat anyways. Razz ). He and Mana wrote the songs for Malice Mizer, and he quickly became popular.

After I believe a year or two, he left to start his own musical career, and he formed GacktJOB, consisting of him and his band. His style changes constantly, so it's hard to say what kind of music he has. His best songs are mind forest, Vanilla, Sekirei ~seki-ray~, Papa Lapped A Pap Lopped, Orenji no Taiyou (a nice 9 minute duet with the lead singer of Laruku, Hyde).

L'Arc~en~Ciel - I'm not too sure on info on this band. Very Happy All I know is that the band was formed by Tetsu (the adorable bass player of the band. ^-^) in the early 1990's. L'Arc~en~Ciel (or Laruku as they're called by fans) has released quite a few CD's, their newest one being SMILE! with their scary little yellow box heads in the CD booklet  Laruku did the final ending song to the Final Fantasy movie (NOT "Advent Children", "The Spirits Within") called "Spirit Dreams Inside" (which is a great song, though Hyde's English REALLY sucks).

Their style is mostly rock, with some softer stuff thrown in for good measure. Their best songs are Lover Boy, Dive To Blue, and Niji.

TM Revolution - He's been popular in Japan for quite some time now. Very Happy His style varies with the CD (he can go from rock, to techno rock, to soft love song) he produces. Recently, his song "Zips" was the Japanese opening to the "Spiderman 2" movie, and his new CD "Seventh Heaven" is a really awesome CD. He was also one of the first J-Rockers I listened to when I got into Japanese music 8 years ago. Some of his best stuff is Zips, HEAT CAPACITY, and Thunderbird.

More later, gotta go to work. XD

I can fall asleep to Gackt easily. Very Happy I did it in San Fransisco last year after getting his Crescent CD, and I also listened to his Mars CD after having a really horrible nightmare. Some nights I get into "Gackt mode" and I have to listen to EVERYTHING iI have from him. XD

Which one? I could probably identify it by it's description. And yes, I am fully aware they have done 'scary' ones, so I am not offended. Very Happy

lol, Evanescence?

Half the people I posted were American.

The other half were just REALLY popular Japanese singers/bands.

Yeah, that's kinda catchy but never really one of my favorites. I like the breakdown later on in the song though. Strangely enough, another member of MM left the day before yesterday who was in the video. They're dropping like flies now, I guess they are making space for the next generation.

Another of my favorites is Onitsuka Chihiro. Depressing, Depressing, Depressing.
Infection Lyrics
Little Beat Rifle Lyrics
She's pretty superstitious, even to me she seems that way.

As for the rock side of my tatses, I am into Dir en Grey and Boom Boom Satellites. As well as Asobi Seksu (I know many people may shudder at this name), Shonen Knife, U2, and L'Arc~en~Ciel. I used to like Evanescene ALOT but I have changed alot since then in so many ways.
