It's for roleplayers. If you would ditch a game because it looks like something from the 70's, this is not for you. |

A MUD is an old-style way to play an RPG. You type in your commands and the like. I tried one once for one of my friends, but I just couldn't do it. _________________

First text based game that really interested me. It's for hardcore gamers. You die, your save is deleted. You can starve. Things like that. And it will be a bitch in the beginning, until you have died 3 times or so, when you have finally learned to remain alive. Then the fighting comes. You might be lucky enough to find a monster 3 times stronger than you in a normal dungeon. There are enemies that are not meant to be killed.
The good thing about this game is the freedom and depth you get. In the character that I have advanced the most, I was killed because I was trying not to be evil, so I left a scared hobgoblin escape from a fight, even tought I could have easily killed him. You know, his running, not attacking. So I get a few levels down the stairs, feel like I need to buy some food, and when I go back to that place, the creature is still cowarding in a corner. I see something in the room, some sort of altar. I get close to it to examine it. Then the frigging hobgoblin offered me to his godess, with a column of fire engulfing me!(notice that if I had proper protection from fire I would have survived). It was an interesting way to die. |
