SoulBlazerFan Posted: Mon Jul 11, 2005 10:30 am Post subject: Link To The Past: The Houlihan Room |
|
|
I'm sorry for posting this if it's been stated before on this site (It may not have been), and I was about to go to sleep, but I feel compelled to tell everyone about this little Easter Egg I just found out about.
Back shortly before Zelda: Link To The Past came out, Nintendo Power (The Official North American Nintendo Magazine) had a contest, in which the winner would get their name put into the game (then titled Zelda 3), and it would be so hard to get into practically no one would ever find it.
Cut to today...
With all the advanced knowledge, of both Game hacking and Emulating, the secret is out... do a google search, and you'll find the exact way of accessing the room, all I need to say is you need the Pegasus Boots, and the guide...
Anyway, I haven't seen the room myself, just yet, anyway. And for those of you looking to find it- it was made inaccessable in the GBA version, so don't even try the trick there (If you are a good hacker, the room is -still- in the coding somewhere)
Last note: the room is all blue rupees (225 to be exact), and there is a pyramid box, saying "Hi, I'm Chris Houlihan, and this is my room... but keep it between us, OK?"
Happy Hunting,

It's been mentioned somewhere on the boards, dunno where. Anyways I've tried going into the room more than once in the same save, you can get into the room more than once, but after you've got the rupee's you they don't reappear. _________________ It's high time I revised this signature. |

That's a fantastic bit of lore (and somewhat common knowledge among Zelda fans ), but not many people have seen it. I've never tried, myself.... it just never sounded like it was really worth the effort. Maybe I'll try some time, just to say I did. _________________

If you pay me $1000 US dollars for various costs I'll consider it. _________________ It's high time I revised this signature. |

"Various costs" meaning buying it and sending it, plus extra money leftover to buy yourself stuff, right? _________________

Further information from what I read, the room still is in their in the code, somewhere, only they made it impossible to access unless you can hack into the game.
Speaking of hacking, apparently, someone made a program that unlocks a new mini game in GTA: San Andreas, where you can partake in some, err... "Erotic" situations. (if you have access to comcast, here's the link: http://www.comcast.net/providers/fan/popup.html?v=36062347&pl=36070338.xml&config=%2Fconfig%2Fcommon%2Ffan%2Fhome%2Exml )
Take it whatever way you will.

Site doesn't load for me, in any case out GTA's get toned down anyway, stupid Australian game thingies, as far as I know the violence got less and you can't pick up the prostitutes and make the car shake(omg the car shakes, that suggests sex! While we're at it may as well air almost all tv shows at midnight, until then just weather reports, unless they have some obscure sexual reference). _________________ It's high time I revised this signature. |

What's even better is that those same games are in the PS2 version of the game too. Normally, it wouldn't be such a big deal, but RockStar claimed that this was all the work of "hacker mischief" or so. Since it was found on a PS2 disc (which can't be hacked), RockStar was busted for lying.
I find that very funny. _________________
