...that the german Translation of Terranigma is quite well made!...and I just found a good example for that:
According to Terraearth.com ( ) the last/best weapons you receive are HeroArmor and HeroPike. In the german version of the game, though, the armor is called Enigmapanzer which means freely translated Enigmaarmor.
In the itembox, the weapon is called Elfenbeinlanze (Ivorylance). However, when you receave the last weapon, it reads Terralanze, which means Terralance.
Terralance and Enigmaarmor
You see, in the german version of the game, the gamename is included into the best/last weapon and armor. Well made, I would say!
I don't want to make the names HeroPike and HeroArmor look stupid, they are even talking about the Heroes Weapons somewhere in the game, but I think adding Terra and Enigma to the names makes everything a bit more mystical, IMO.
EDIT: All in all, small things like this make a game a true gem. |

I wanna play it in english some time...
Or some of the other titles of the series.
Oh, and btw.: We might get a SNES again soon, my brothers friend sells his for 15 €! Used (apparently), but in a good condition (no loose contacts, etc.) |

Terranigma is in fact one of the very, very few games whose German translation is better than the English one. The general feel and writing style just seems more adequate, and the English version appears like it was done by non-native English speakers. Probably because the game never made it to the US, I don't know, but either way I find the English translation rather flawed. Still acceptable enough not to distract from the great game that it is, fortunately.
The thing I don't get is why they called Yomi Fluffy in the German version... |

Perel is Perry, Royd is shortened to Roy, and I bet there's more I can't remember right now. Fluffy's still the weirdest change! Those Club Nintendo guys loved making up their own names of characters and locations when translating games, often enough they simply used the names of their staff members. In Secret of Evermore, they even changed the intro town's name from Podunk to Großostheim, where their headquarters are. |

Cripes... I really wish I knew how to edit text sequences in ROMs so I could re-translate Terranigma. If only I could learn how. I mean, there's translation groups out there that do this all the time. There's got to be a way to make it! _________________ "That which invokes my rage and great, furious anger shall turn to a raging nuclear sea of fire!" |

Wouldn't it be nice to make a version with the music of Wyv instead of the original score?
I'm shure it might give a different feel to the game...
And I also have to admit that Melina is a very beautiful name
I'll probably name a future daughter Melina...Klein Melina...sounds nice, doesn't it?
Question: is Elle an usual name in english-speaking countries?
Beside that, Elle is (also?) French and means she
EDIT: According to Wikipedia, Melina means the honeysweet girl....the name really grows on me |

Elle is in fact an actual name. And the meaning for Melina is really nice. D: If you do infact name a future daughter that, I DEMAND PICTURES. _________________

I would certainly approve.
Changing Elle to Melina (or any other name for that matter) makes a bit more sense to me than changing Yomi to Fluffy, because Elle sounds rather weird in German, as a name for a beautiful young woman. Apart from that it's also the German word for the old measure of length, cubit, and for the ulna. :p Melina is a good choice for sure! |

:err: "Klein" is my last name, so, this is what her full name will sound like.
And think about it, Melina is just a letterswap away from Melani(e)
@ Wyv: Gosh! Never thought about that Elle has this meaning too^^ |
