tay120n64 Posted: Wed Nov 07, 2007 8:07 pm Post subject: The Worst (non CD-i) Zelda Game Ever! |
|
|
Okay! So there's a thread about the best Zelda game, but which one was the worst? Obviously the CD-i games don't count since they weren't made by Nintendo... And the GBA Four Swords was barely a full game, so let's not count that either. So of the zelda games which was the worst?
Personally, I would have to go with Minish Cap. The game was easy, very linear, and tedious in all the bad ways. It was as if the creators said, "What was everything we did wrong in Wind Waker? Let's do that again, minus the ocean. Oh, but this time, let's make it worse." I'll admit, the battle system and the Kinstones were good, but the game itself just left to be desired. At least with Four Swords Adventures and Phantom Hourglass, though they were linear, there were alot of good new ideas and methods of play.
What do you guys think? (Oh, and I want it to be known that I love Zelda II, because I know someone in here will bitch about it. Yes, it was different and very, very hard, but it was a good game!) _________________

I played the Minish Map for a few minutes...didn't touch me at all...though the graphix were nice, but thats not important (for me) in this genre. |

I'll be the one to bitch about Zelda II.
Yes, Zelda games have a reputation for being a bit on the easy side, and yes, Zelda 2 was harder than any other, but it was 'difficult-hard', not 'challenging-hard'; that is, hard for all the wrong reasons.
Hardly a bad game on its own, but with more faults than any other Zelda. _________________

I just answered this on another zelda forum, so i'll paste what I said here:
I am a loyal zelda fan, so I wouldn't call it the 'worst' zelda game, but still to this day, I cannot push myself to play majora's mask and actually finish it. I recieved it in 2000! when it was first released, and I've had it for 7 years, and never beat it. It was a good game with some likable zelda aspects, but for some reason it was never my favorite.
I also have played, but never finshed:
The Legend of Zelda
The Legend of Zelda: Link's Adventure
The Windwaker
There are some other zelda games that I never recieved to play, so I want to get those soon tooo ..
Majora's Wrath just kept kicking my butt and I never finshed it. |

Wow! Amazing!
Majoras Mask stepped out of the "Two worlds that almost look alike" shadow that "A Link to the Past" and "Ocarina of time" had.
It had a huge influence of japanese (? ok lets say Asian) mythologie, and the graphic style was quite frigtening at times.
Probably one of the most "atmospheric" (newer) Zelda games.
Also, the fact that you never were "at home" somewhere is also proof of the maturity of the game.
It's sad to hear that you never finished this masterpiece...
EDIT: Maybe the game failed at beeing a typical/significant game of the Zelda series, but it's still a good game on its own. |

Well, I kind of agree. Although Majora's Mask is one of my two favorite Zelda games (the other being Link's Awakening) it took playing it two or three times before I really fell in love with it. It was rather short, and the final battle was a joke, but all in all it was the most fun game to just play in the whole series (I think). _________________

I hated Zelda II: The Adventure of Link
I was some kind of stupid.
I don't understand why at one hand a large Overworld map with many towns was created, but at the other Hand they made side scrolling Levels. Not even good one like Supermario.
And the randome Encounters and the "lives" counting down System. |

Well, it was an Action/RPG rather than an Action/Adventure. Personally I'd like to see more games like this, but a different series. (Castlevania II also rocks!) _________________
