chrome ftw |
chrome saves ALL url's visited and google saves them in their superdatastorage computer.
the german federal office of data security advised not to use chrome, since until today, nobody knows exactly what and how much of it google saves of your private data (google.com-searches are all saved along with your IP-Adresses and stuff too).
microsoft? pussies! google is the current most evil internet multicorporate enterprise the world has ever seen. imagine a world in 30 years, where all presidents and people in important positions have been watched by google for their internet belongings... _________________

I believe that google is not evil, since it has not done anything with the data. It is, however, a voyeur, so google should be crowned the creepiest company instead. |

it's neither legal nor "only voyeurism" to collect this amount of personal data. if somebody installes a camera next to your bancomat and would do nothing with your data you would still disagree and state he's a evil person
believe me, the more you learn about google and their methods (their newest project of making 3D-cities via sourround-photography amazingly alarmed german data security), the more you think "oh my gawd, somebody has to stop these guys!". no company will gather THIS amount of information just out of... personal interest? _________________

Pfft, this is all alarmist bullshit that other companies have been trying to feed you. If it matters that much to you, use a proxy and go incognito. _________________

nope, it's from german media (private media and lawprotected indipendent media) and/or from our german federal office of data security. that, and recent court decisions german judges had to come to because of dozens of lawsuits against google.
trust the germans - we're more distrustful than any other race in the world _________________

yay! off-topic again
the thing about google is: those, who dont know a lot about google and their hornyness for data are like "hooray, new apps like google earth or street-view!" and those, who know how much data google collects and WHERE 3rd party apps from google are installed (in terms of "in which sites") are like "ZOMGSTFUWTH! GOOGLE TAKES OUR PRIVACY AWAY!"
i actually dont know on which side i should stand... on the one hand, i DO believe that google collects way too much data than they should. on the other hand: nothing YET happened. _________________

nope, I'm dead serious. BOTH of these accusations were all over the news in germany, almost for weeks:
TV: prime time news, special broadcasts, every documentary about chinese propaganda and censorship includes the google-case. this was also the turning point when the public (at least our media) realized, that google isn't the "oh we're sitting on sandbags in the creative room and do good for the open source"-company anymore.
many tv-channels had to fight google in court because they showed their camera-cars when suddenly google sued them all. many many reports with hidden camera and how google does not reply to anything about this street-view-thing.
newspapers: page-filling articles, I read a couple of debates if whether google is now the microsoft of the past.
radio: the same
internet: especially the protect-privacy movement is fighting hard to inform the people. low rate of success I'd say
the media together with the governmental data protection managed to pressure google so far they had to speak in public about their street-view-program, and they promised to specially strengthen the privacy protection in germany. you didn't see some google ambassador in your news trying to explain all this shit? germany fuck yeah
the case about google voluntarily censoring their internet search in china didn't get any resolve. google is deadly quiet and I never heard of any statement about this. people here don't care about this too much though, china is far away and we're glad as long as they don't shoot nukes on thaiwan _________________

There is something about this that reeks of bullshit paranoia. I mean, why is the news of this limited to German tech sites only? It could very well be propaganda mandated by the state. You know, it pays to be very skeptical of what you hear in the media, because they aren't reliable for the truth.
So please, show me a google car that takes pictures, and show me proof that it isn't a spoof and that those images are actually being used because this really reeks of paranoid bullshit. _________________

look at the numberplates, first picture is USA (i think), second one is either from belgium, france or netherland, last one is in germany. now for the biggest newsmedia I know about google/china:

I AM LIVING IN GERMANY^^ dude, just in case there was something like "propaganda mandated by the state" here, what reason would they have? this is ridiculous
edit: I don't wanted this to sound offensive, but it's just... we invented modern propaganda and at the same time democracy. we had the first full-time media control and are now one of the few countries that guarantees special media that may not be controlled by anyone and is financially indipendent from anybody, all protected by our constitution.
it's more likely that germany reports about things all other countries don't than having some sort of propaganda by the german state _________________
