What's the deal with the Mother games? Apparently Earthbound is supposed to be called Mother 2. What's up?

Mother is the name of the series in Japan.

Mother 1 is for the NES. (Hero: Ness. Japan Only.)

Mother 2 is for the SNES. (Hero: Ness. Known as Earthbound outside of Japan.)

Mother 3 is for the GBA. (Hero: Lucas. Japan Only.)

yeesh, not a lot of games make it out of japan, do they? I mean, yeah we have a lot, but that's only the massivley popular stuff. Just like with manga, you can only find the popular stuff instead of the lesser known things. That annoys me.

This is the true one. Starmen.net has the info. According to SM.net, the three main characters (not including Teddy) resemble three of the main characters in Earthbound. Very Happy

Thanks for the info. I figured Tay would know as he's in the midst of the SNES review, but the additional info is always useful. Plus it sparks interesting conversations, which is the whole point of these forums.
