What I'm doing is actually an assessment; I have a job coach to help me if I ever have trouble with what I'm doing on the job. I'm getting paid $6.00 an hour, and for a start, that's good money.

I hope to start a job soon; I'm entering the "work" life.

I'm working at Wheatlands for my assessment right now; it's a nursing home.

I pass ice water to the elderly, as well as doing some "man work". It's quite a fun job, and I hope to get hired there for a real job.

Awesome. Hope that works out well for ya.

My mom used to work at an Assisted Care Facility (which is like a nursing home, but more like a dormitory) and I helped out there occasionally. It was enjoyable.

I wish I had a job.... *is still looking for one*

On a slightly related note, $6/hr doesn't sound like much, no offence meant. Actually, it depends how old you are - minimum wage here in the UK is £3.57 for under-18's, rising to a minimum £5.80 for over-22's.

Anyhoo, it hope it all goes well for you. Very Happy

US minimum wage was increased to 7.25 back in July. I'm currently making just under 11 an hour at my job- however, I've been there over five years now.

Hey, since my last post, I kind-of have a job now too! Smile I applied to be a Christmas temp at WHSmith retailers, and they called to say "if you still want a job, ring us back". I've not had the chance to ring them yet, but I will do so tomorrow morning, and they'll hopefully say I've got the job!

I imagine it won't be much over minimum wage (maybe more with overtime though), and being a Christmas job will probably only last until January unless they choose to keep me on on a more permanent basis, but it's a start! Smile

congrats!

i recently lost my new job - i *had* a job working as an assistant in a pathology lab, but i didnt take too kindly to the chemicals they use - and am looking for a new one. my current grocery store job gives me 3 hours of work a week, not nearly enough.

maybe with the way things on this thread are going, ill get lucky as well? Razz

Well, actually my parents have been telling me that because of the economy these days and the problem our U.S. government is having, I got cut off. I'm not upset about that matter though; because that can happen to some people, and the fact that our government is having some issues, I'm doing just fine.
