So, you've read the topic, feel free to discuss.

Funny thing here I saw on the news; after he's done with his current speech about the win, and his preaching of anti-nuclear weapons, he's going into a War Strategy Meeting. Surprised

Depends on whether the war strategy meeting is to purpose an offensive move or a defensive move.

Obama has done nothing to deserve the Nobel Peace Prize. NOTHING. This was just a political move because everybody wants to kiss our glorious Presidents ass. He's barely been in office for a year and has done NOTHING!

Mother Teresa devoted her life to peace and helping her fellow man.

Obama has written a book... wrote another book... appeared at a burger shop... oh and he's interested in Health Care and just happens (by accident of chronology) to be the first African American President.

We need to stop giving him a free ride. Being adamantly anti-war (which he isn't, by the by) does not make you deserving of a peace prize.

Edit: And yeah, I think this should be in Debate Forum.

My intention wasn't to create a debate topic, as much as a discussion. I suppose it's a debateable topic- does he deserve the Peace Prize? I don't have an opinion either way- my only intention was to inform those who didn't know, and get their thoughts. If the admins wish to transfer it over to the debate forum, by all means. I didn't put it there myself because I didn't think there would be a debate here. Surprised

...Or didn't do, depending on what you meant. See, I'm really anti-politics- I remember meeting this guy a few weeks ago, big into politics- and I found it to be the most aggrivating thing in the world. If you aren't involved someone with the government, or are trying in some way to change it, why go around bitching about something you have no control over?

I think it's important to discuss it, sure. But is it really necessary to bitch for three hours straight about foreign polices and all that hype? Isn't that what we elect people for, to do the thinking for us? Very Happy

I still don't see why he got it. Yeah, he talks big, and it seems he really wants to do some good for our nation and our world, but as Jason said, he hasn't done anything yet.

Which isn't to say he won't, but why would a prize be given to someone who hasn't really even started doing things yet?

...What. Seriously? Seriously? What the hell has he done for his 10 months in office? Pissed off a bunch of people, made his likability rating DROP (yep, it's gone down since he got into office, even by people who were OMG ALL FOR HIM when the elections were in view), and a bunch of other stuff that doesn't grant him a Nobel Peace Prize.

Seriously, what the hell were they thinking?

@tay: Exactly. If we're giving awards based on Potential greatness then I demand my McArthur Genius Grant right now. I could use $1 million.
Cool

@Raini: Oh yeah, and it'll only continue to drop. Once the OMG we have a black president who is going to vanquish The Man wears off (not to sound racist, but if that's the only reason you voted for him then its you who are the racist).

And that's why I don't vote- I didn't like either candidate, and it's unrealistic to try and vote for an independent, because they'll never win. We'll see in three years how well Obama fared- and do you think, honestly (Here's something that's really gonna fire up a debate) that the black community might pull the race card if Obama loses the next election?

Frankly I think the people who would do that are so dumb they'd pull the race card if he lost to another black person. Very Happy
