Yeah that was most probably deliberate graphic designing to achieve that - it makes it look more aesthetically pleasing when stuff lines up properly (or doesn't line up at all....but there's nothing worse than something that *almost* but doesn't quite line up).
Love the image-macro responses BTW. They made me  .
