|

Ok, so the thread title is a bit misleading with that 'profits' thing. Still, let's file this one under "gamers don't know what a boycott is".
Sonic the Hedgehog purists are apparently mighty pissed that Sonic 4 isn't exactly what they wanted (based on the few seconds of footage floating around out there). Apparently, what they really want is a remake of the first game. That's the message this petition sends, proudly declaring that when Sonic 4 is released, these fans will buy Sonic 1... out of protest.
Yes, they're boycotting Sega by buying Sega products.
This has to be a hoax. It has to be.
First, no one could be this dumb.
Second, the awful grammar and lack of capitalization doesn't exactly scream 'professional'.
Third, I don't remember there being any protests when Sega shit out the likes of Sonic Unleashed or Sonic the Hedgehog for the PS3/360.
And finally, it's an online petition. Have they ever accomplished anything? _________________

Wow... That's somewhat akin to saying "we're gonna boycott the merger of Square-Enix" by only buying Square and Enix games... _________________ Current Avatar commissioned work by Seiken Arts.

1up had a pretty funny reaction to this:
"It's sure to be about as effective as shopping at Sam's Club because you're boycotting Walmart."
And regarding their complaints of quality... Was the Sonic series ever really that good to begin with? Don't get me wrong, I love the games, but the level progression and difficulty curves have always been unbalanced, and every title has had its own flaw. These Sonic 4 complaints I've been hearing fall on the same deaf ears that had to listen to the bickering about Sonic Adventure 2 (one of my favorite games, period). _________________

...lol. Oh wow. Seriously. If they wanted to buy a Sonic game for the Sega, they should be buying Sonic 3. Best one out of the original Genesis games anyway. _________________

I'd rate the top 5 Sonic games thus {WARNING: OPINION TO FOLLOW}:
Sonic the Hedgehog 3
Sonic Advance 1
Sonic Adventure 2: Battle
Sonic the Hedgehog 2
Sonic the Hedgehog 1 _________________

THIS!
I loved that game. I prefer the GC version to the Dreamcast just because the Chao raising was easier (they actually showed you the stats)
and as weird as this sounds raising Chao was equal in mind to the gameplay... like a game within a game. _________________ Current Avatar commissioned work by Seiken Arts.

Not to mention it had one of my favorite multiplayer modes in all of Gamedom.
I spent as much time on 2-player Sonic A2:B as I did on Kirby Super Star or Super Bomberman 1. _________________

YESSSSSS. I love Sonic 1, but Sonic 3 was insanely superior. The Adventure games were really good too, for as much as I suck at them. XD

Truth is, my favorite of the 2D games has always been 2. I liked the vast variety of environments and the epic feel, particular of the last couple stages:
Metropolis->Sky Chase->Sky Fortress
and then the big finale of the Death Egg Zone.
It's like one massive ending, and that was pretty epic. _________________ Current Avatar commissioned work by Seiken Arts.

Incidentally, I ordered the Sonic Adventure 2 OST from Japan because I loved it so much. To this day it remains one of my favorite VG OSTs. _________________
