While I'm running, my backpack (which I was carrying over one shoulder) slid off and dropped to the ground in front of me. I wasn't able to stop running, and somehow managed to step on it. The textbooks inside gave me a nice, sturdy little platform to step off of. I basically had a running start, stepped and jumped off my backpack (I'm now airborne), turned 90 degrees in the air, and landed on my ass on the grass path. Right in front of a large group of students who were also walking that way.
The best part? It was my first day of high school. Nice way to make an impression. |
I'm gonna agree with Raini and Ever. That counts as a WIN in my book. _________________

On my sister's 10th birthday, we were returning home from a day out and when they were all inside, my dad decided to goof around by holding the door shut and pretending to lock me out.
He didn't reckon on me shoulder-charging the door.....
Cue 5 hours of waiting in the hospital A&E to have my arm X-ray'd to make sure my mum had gotten all of the glass out of my elbow (I still have the scars).
Moral of the story: a human elbow is harder than glass. Especially when the glass is stationary and the elbow is moving at 15mph. :p _________________

YETI's story reminds me of one of my own from when I was about 12.
I was visiting my nation's capitol for a week, and on the first day in Washington, I had a rather unfortunate fall. We were at a hotel near the center of the city and my sister and I were goofing off in the "courtyard" (don't know what else you might call it). Anyway, I was standing above the walkway on the edge of a little wall which had a small garden on top. I decided to tease my sister a bit and ran ahead, at which point I lost my footing and fell. Oh, did I mention that the walkway wasn't so much a walkway as a stone staircase? I fell down a flight.
Incidentally, I didn't get hurt too bad. My knee got banged up a bit and my arm, which I landed on first, hurt rather bad. Of course, the wonderful concierge at the reception refused to give us anything other than a couple band-aids (just the thing for a completely torn up knee! ) because they didn't want to be held "Liable for the incident". (??) Well, I managed, and I wore my arm in a sling (a rolled-up T-Shirt) for the rest of the day.
When we got back to Arkansas (eight days later, I might add) we found out I had fractured my arm. I had to wear a brace for the next month and a half. What a souvenir.
I wonder, since it happened from visiting my nation's capitol, can I blame the government? _________________

there was this one time when i was a kid (maybe around 5 years old) i was going to the park with my dad. we walked past this paved stone fence (i dont know how else to describe it, really), and i decided to rest my head on it... rather strongly.
in the end, i had to get stitches in my chin (i dont remember how many), and if i look hard enough now, i can still see a scar from it. _________________

My dad had one kinda like that when he was about 8 years old, EverPhoenix; he was playing "Feet Off London" with some of his mates, and climbed on the wrought iron railings of somebody's house. Except rather than hooking his arm around the giant metal spike, he hooked his arm OVER the spike....when he climbed down, he'd torn clean through his new jumper, his shirt, and his elbow, ripping it wide open. He could see all the blood vessels and the muscles contracting and expanding and EVERYTHING.
Amazingly, apart from a large scar on the inside of his elbow, and some overly sensitive nerves there too, his arm works fine.

O, one time I was out bike riding with my dad for a day as part of my Cyclists badge for Scouts. We'd just turned out of our road and gone over a small bridge, when I lost control of my bike as I went down the far side of the bridge; I think there might've been some loose gravel on the road involved or something. Next thing I knew, I'd fallen off my bike, getting my leg partially trapped under it, and was body-surfing on my bare legs across about 50 feet of tarmac. Ripped my knees to shreds, but other than that I was fine.
Thankfully, there were no cars on the road at the time, otherwise I would've almost certainly got run over. _________________

This exact thing happened twice in my life, even down to the location;
I was young, about 12/13ish at the time. I was walking home from school. I look across the street, and see two pretty girls (At that age, we had yet to use words like "Hot" or anything. So I'm walking and looking, and next thing I know, the world is spinning, and now I'm on my ass.
How'd this happen? Well, it was winter, someone hadn't used a deicer on their walk, and tripped and fell.
And what do you think happened? Those two girls were laughing. Like I said, this exact same scenario happened again some time later, at roughly the same exact location. _________________ "...at first it's fine and you think you have a dark side – it's exciting – and then you realise the dark side wins every time if you decide to indulge in it. Summer of last year, my sister's friends and I were playing volleyball in their backyard. They have a huge house and a huge sandy backyard, so.
After taking a swim, we decided to play another round of volleyball. I was never much good at it, but keeping in the spirit of fun, I played anyway.
So, while diving to hit the ball over the net, I jumped and made it, but hit the ground face down really hard. Needless to say, the strapless bathingsuit I was wearing went a bit lower than I realized during the fall, so I had to fix it before I got up ...
Having massive amounts of sand in your bathingsuit is not a good feeling. I later resigned myself to bathingsuits with straps.
Then again, most of my life has been an epic fail. _________________ Whenever there's light, there are shadows.
