Beating Castoth is as easy as multi-tasking; firstly, making sure you have some herbs (if you can get them that early in the game, I don't remember, it's been years, lol), and then, dodging his fireballs as you wait for the perfect oppurtunity to slash his claws.
It took me a couple of times before I beat it for the first time. The vampires are like 50 times harder. |
Um, 'scuse me,....maybe just a dumb question coming from me here, but - why do you need herbs to beat Castoth?
Stand directly in front of him, middle of the screen. You'll probably only get hit by a fireball once, taking 2HP or so of damage. Slash at his claws until he retracts them (5 times each, if I recall). Then slash like mad when his head-gem starts glowing. Just as he starts shaking before firing his frickin' laser beam, RUN TO NEAR THE TOP RIGHT CORNER. You might get another 2HP damage from a fireball up there.
When he stops firing, return to the front and rinse, lather, repeat.
Most of the bosses can be taken down by just standing in roughly the right spot and mashing the attack/slash button, I find. XD _________________

Well, I didn't need herbs to beat Castoth. But for the people who have trouble beating him, they might come in handy. _________________ Whenever there's light, there are shadows.

Ah, fair enough. I can't see why anyone would though.
Then again, this comes from the guy who likes to take on the vampire twins as Will. Facing off against them, I tend to have a batting average of about 500. _________________

The only one I've never beaten as Will - as far as I remember - is the Mummy Queen, you need a longer reach than he has in order to strike the correct ghost when they fly in a ring... _________________

5 hours is about right. When's the last time you played it, Jason? The game is crazy short if you breeze through it. I played it back in January and was shocked because I didn't remember the game being so quick. (same goes for IoG, actually) _________________

I dont think that even 5 hours is impresive, IMO . Obviously in the first time you play it yes, but if not this is an average walthrought .
But I dont know exactly if it was 5 hours , it only my impression . I'm gonna play it again soon |

I'm trying to play it now and I'm going about it fairly slow. Based on how long IoG was I'd say 5 hours is pretty good. It takes me at least 8 hours of gameplay to beat IoG. _________________ Current Avatar commissioned work by Seiken Arts.

well, the worst thing is that the first time I was Will, I throught that the darkspace was blocked after all the water flow , and that you cant be Freedan in front of Eric, so if for you take forever , I took forever X2
Worst enemies ever since Verminator . |

The game is incredibly short Jason. If you remember the first post, I had cleared the game in just under three hours, without dying, reaching level 21. Mind you, I did so without collecting all 8 emblems and also having never known about the Pass hidden underneath that plant, meaning I never got the Lucky Blade. _________________ "...at first it's fine and you think you have a dark side – it's exciting – and then you realise the dark side wins every time if you decide to indulge in it.
