Hello there.

Not sure if this question was brought up before buuuuuutttt....
I was just wondering if anyone knows if there is SOME way to contact Quintet or their developers.

The old site is shut down, and appearantly the devs like
Tomoyoshi Miyazaki don't use Twitter or Facebook.

If there is no connection to them, anyone has an idea who the IP holder of the Soul Blazer series is? I want to ask them to make a rerelease for PC, with level editor.

Well, Quintent went out of business years ago :/ If any of us had their contact information of anyone involved with the trilogy of this day and age, that would be the most wonderful thing... The only thing I can suggest is contact Nintendo or Square-Enix, whichever one was involved with it more.

One day... ONE DAY!!

I guess if you were to contact anyone, it would be Square-Enix. They were the publishers of SB (back when Enix was on its own).

As for Quintet, I believe individual developers work on the occasional game here and there, but as a company, they're gone.

Well good luck with Square Enix. I mean those jerks shut down the Chrono Ressurection project Crying or Very sad That looked so promising Mad They're very restrictive with their copyright. Although you can't really blame them...still. It's a pity.

What about contacting Nintendo instead then? Would they have any say in anything? *raises eyebrow quizzically* Smile

Well better question:
How much would the IPs of the SB-trilogy cost?

3 million? Or 20 million?

What is an IP? I am ignorant. Smile

But however much it would cost to buy the games, it's more than all of us could afford put together. Unless at least one of us wins the lottery, that is. Very Happy

IP=Intellectual Property.

It's the overall ownership of the idea. For instance... "Ghostbusters" is owned by Columbia Pictures, which in turn is owned by Sony. Sony is the "IP" holder of Ghostbusters- but the franchise is owned in part by Sony, Bill Murray, Dan Akyroyd, Harold Ramis, and the original director, Ivan Reitman.

And I doubt it would be that much. Considering in 2001, WCW's IP was purchased by Vince McMahon for 150,000 dollars... I bet the IP could be picked up for a relatively cheap price.

My understanding is that in most video games the Developers don't own the IP, but rather the Publishers. Quintet developed the game but Enix and Nintendo published it, leading me to believe that either Square-Enix or Nintendo hold the IP.

Odds are they would not sell the IP to just anybody, no matter how hard-up they were for money (because we all know how much Nintendo is struggling gaiz Laughing ). Then again, I don't know. This isn't really my area of expertise (which of course begs the question what is my area of expertise. I'ma say the ladies.)

They would never let go of the IP... assuming they still own it. However, they would probably be more than likely willing to license the IP to another company if they wanted to make a new game or such.

All Nintendo had were licensing rights. Square-Enix is the IP holder.

But why keep hold of the IP if they're not *doing* anything with it, nor planning to *ever* do anything with it? They might as well sell it and make some cash, then hold onto it and get nothing squared for the rest of time. Razz

Of course, I'm thinking about it logically, which is where I went wrong. Razz
