I was talking to my boss, running on only moderate sleep and I came out with this great one.

"So Thanksgiving falls on a Thursday this year."

Of course within a moment I caught myself and said: "Wait it falls on a Thursday every year..." but the damage was done. We both burst out into hysterics.

It wasn't me that said it, it was my brother's friend from years ago.

When we were facing the very real possibility of a green Christmas, the guy said "I'd like to see what that looks like".

Everyone else laughed at him and told him to look out the window during Summer. Cool Guy

When I'm tired, I usually can't detect sarcasm. So, I tend to say alot of stupid things when I'm sleep deprived.

I remember my sister once said she didn't want to go swimming because, in her own words: "The water is wet."

by blowing on something, you make air circulate around it faster (duh). doing this increases the rate of convection (when the air is constantly flowing at a temperature between your body temperature and the room temperature). Therefore, if the icecream is a lot colder than the room temperature, heat will flow from the room into the ice cream slightly faster, effectively making it... yep, you guessed it... LESS COLD.

so, i guess Chicken's parents gain the honourable mention of this topic, not Chicken.

Actually I agree with Tay's assessment of the effects of blowing on an ice-cream, it would work....a little. Smile

I don't have any particularly memorable stupid statements, but anything remotely inaccurate said in front of my dad is filed away in his memory to bring up at every possible later opportunity for causing embarrassment; not to lighten a tense mood or anything, just to humiliate for the fun of it.

Like once, I accidentally said that 3 three's are 29. Big deal, a slip of the tongue, you laugh it off and that's teh end of it, right? Wrong. Every time someone mentions maths in a conversation, he loves to bring up the fact that I have a degree in Maths and said that 3 three's were 29. *facepalm*

Whenever he does this to anybody, their reaction is always without fail the same - "What, you can't just let that die ALREADY? It's been XX years and that was just ONE little slip of the tongue". He doesn't have any idea how bloody annoying it is though. It always makes me want to just slap the hell outta him. Having a sense of humour about making silly little mistakes is one thing, but then having it thrown up in your face every time he talks to someone is *not funny*.
At least I'm not the only person who he repeatedly embarrasses this way though, he does it with anyone who he hears or sees doing something not quite right. He even still humiliates his own poor late mother this way, and she died back in '73.
