Okay, so there is a new type of airplane seat that is coming out soon.
"The new airplane seat, to be unveiled next week at the Aircraft Interiors Expo Americas conference in Long Beach, would give passengers an experience akin to riding horseback.
They'd sit at an angle with no more than 23 inches between their perch and the seat in front of them — a design that could appeal to low-cost airlines that have floated the idea of offering passengers standing-room tickets on short flights."
The article goes on to say:
"For flights anywhere from one to possibly even up to three hours ... this would be comfortable seating," he says.
Just one question.
Does SHE look comfortable? And she's been sitting in the seat for maybe 10 minutes to take the picture.
This guy goes on to say:
"The seat ... is like a saddle. Cowboys ride eight hours on their horses during the day and still feel comfortable in the saddle."
Because they do it EVERY DAY. Because they are experienced riders. Does the term Saddle Rash mean nothing to these people?

That looks very uncomfortable. It also looks like it would put a lot of strain on your legs; she looks like she's in constant danger of slipping off unless you support yourself with your legs. Maybe it's just an optical illusion in that picture, but it looks like the seats are on an angle.
Is it really that important for airlines to save a few inches on seats that they have to include that abomination? _________________

No joke. First thing I thought of when I read this article was
"How is it?"
"Well it's slightly less painful than having to deal with the airlines."

Jesus Christ, dude. That episode makes me cringe every time.

well, when I flew to bulgaria I already sat in such seats. except that they weren't designed to be comfortable, or that anybody even lied about these things being comfortable. they were just very, very small seats _________________

if itll make flights even cheaper, then why the hell not. if people want real seats, they can pay full price for airfares. seems fair enough _________________

Yes, if you want a proper seat (and a lot of people will), then you'll pay the proper fare to get it.
If you pay peanuts, you'll get the seat you paid for....which is a really crap saddle.
And I challenge them to prove how comfortable that saddle-style seat could be. I used to ride my bicycle when I was a kid, and I had to give it up - because everytime I was sat on the seat (slightly the same kinda shape as this saddle thing, in a way), I would go NUMB in about 5 minutes flat. Losing sensation in your genitals is a nasty (lack of) feeling, and when the blood flow then returns to normal it is incredibly PAINFUL! O.O
