In a nutshell, the Earth's tilt has been changing slightly over the last few thousand years. As a result, from our perspective, the stars are in a different location. This has prompted astrologers to use the dates of the Sidereal Zodiac (which is a shifting one) rather than the fixed dates formerly used.

Not only are there new dates for the Zodiac signs, there's also a 13th sign in between Scorpio and Sagittarius.

The dates are as follows:

Capricorn: Jan. 20 - Feb. 16

Aquarius: Feb. 16 - March 11

Pisces: March 11- April 18

Aries: April 18- May 13

Taurus: May 13- June 21

Gemini: June 21- July 20

Cancer: July 20- Aug. 10

Leo: Aug. 10- Sept. 16

Virgo: Sept. 16- Oct. 30

Libra: Oct. 30- Nov. 23

Scorpio: Nov. 23- Nov. 29

Ophiuchus: Nov. 29- Dec. 17

Sagittarius: Dec. 17- Jan. 20

I used to be a Capricorn, but have now become a Sagittarius. My brother and gf were Cancer, but are now Gemini, and my Mom is now a Pisces instead of an Aries. My Dad stays a Pisces.

So what are you now?

I used to be an Aries-Taurus cusp, but now am firmly an Aries (or possibly a isces-Aries cusp) [April 19].

But fortunately I have always been somebody who believes astrology is crap Cool Guy

So have I. I only ever look at stuff like horoscopes and whatnot for the insane generalities. I just thought it was kind of funny how astrologers (and others who really go for it) can say "we're going with this new system of telling you what your life is like".

If I was a Capricorn, and am now a Sagittarius, doesn't that mean there's some kind of personality change or something?

i used to be a leo. now im a cancer, by this.

but ive spent my life believing that i'm a leo (and, at the same time, not giving a crap about astrology), and was content with that.

i dont wanna be virgo ;_; i like the libra better. i mean, virginity forever, but libra just feels better.

[edit-first clarifying, i completely understood that virgo the vigrin does not condemn you to virginity when i wrote the comment xDD

have aeries as my moon is kinda nifty if you go by its general personality type. i suppose switching to virgo and having pisces as the moon would be an interesting new thing

And now, for a quick retraction.

Some other 'expert' says that nothing is changing, because in the West, we don't use constellations, we use seasonal Equinoxes, and the Zodiac names just happen to be the names of the constellations.

So... keep your old sign? I guess?

Though how one can be an expert in a field where everything is made up escapes me... Meh/Worried

They're both right. The one that changed was the one that's used in India/Hindu-beliving places (oh wow I am so articulate today) , which if you're a follower of that particular astrology, then your sign did change. If you go by the Zodiac houses, those haven't shifted at all and you're still the same sign you were before.

As for myself, had I gone with the change I would have been a Pisces. I'm an Aries though, and it's gonna stay that way.

Well, I guess it doesn't matter anyway, like the announcement recently that the whole 2012 thing may be off- but only by a couple hundred to a thousand years, of course. Very Happy
