After playing through Startropics for the NES again, I've noticed several things that only make sense because people tell you they do. Aliens and talking robots aside of course, one of the biggest ones that comes to mind is the fact that you can't move on from chapter 5 to 6 without sinking a pirate ship. The ship is blocking the strait leading to the open ocean, and thanks to the chokepoint geography, that's the only way to access it.
The problem is: you have a submarine. It's even capable of submerging by this point (it isn't when you first get it). Just go under the damn pirate ship. How much space could it be taking up?
Of course, you don't think to question stuff like this when you're 6 or 7; you just sink the ship because the ship is there, and that's what it's for. But I can't help but think that Mike didn't take the most efficient route to his destination.
Is there some logic you just can't wrap your head around? You'll often find it in older games, but newer ones aren't exactly exempt. _________________

Star Ocean Til the End of Time.
Fayt crash lands on an underdeveloped world very early on in the games story. He has a duplicator in his ship which according to the game can create anything. He uses it to make a sword and the parts to a music box.
Why does he not use it to make the parts necessary to fix the ship?! I mean surely the reason they put those things on there is the futurisitic equivalent of a spare tire?!

Pokemon
The entire concept; and this has been said many times. Apparently the world of Pokemon is completely devoid of child molestors because parents freely let their children explore the world attempting to capture monsters. A college diploma is apparently more rare than Mew, which makes me wonder what exactly is the requirement for the title Professor in this game. I guess Professor Oak just did some sort of color-by-numbers and maybe got a GED.
And on that note, in the original games, Prof Oak wants you to make a record of all the Pokemon in the world. By the end he only has three left but he used to have several. There are several logical falicies here:
1. Why doesn't he still have the record of all his other pokemon?
2. How does he know that there are exactly 150 if he didn't have them all?
3. If this is his life's dream, why the hell would he entrust it to a twelve year old? _________________ Current Avatar commissioned work by Seiken Arts.

Here we go: An evil monster, the darkest force in the universe, instead of killing the worlds inhabitants in an attempt for world domination, he traps them individually inside monster pits, which are guarded by weak monsters than, when all killed, restore those people back to the world. Also, he traps buildings, bridges, and flowers just for fun.
I am, of course, speaking of Soul Blazer. _________________ "...at first it's fine and you think you have a dark side – it's exciting – and then you realise the dark side wins every time if you decide to indulge in it. definitely.
@jason tandro, re pokemon: it is theorized that in the first gen, the kanto region is at war. hence, the only people around are kids, women, the elderly, and lt. surge.
also - almost every rpg: why is the quality of items dependent on the distance from the final boss, regardless of anything? high-tech cities offer equipment inferior to some random village in the middle of nowhere. (i guess in some cases if the village is some warrior tribe it's ok but i only remember that being the case in lufia 2 on snes [narvick]) _________________

And Freedan's game actually makes reference to that! _________________ Current Avatar commissioned work by Seiken Arts.

Motorcycles and Can-Am Roadsters able to knock the sport cars and race cars off in Asphalt 3D? Silly. _________________
