I finally got around to reading the other five books (I'm almost done book 5). My initial analysis if you recall was that I thought the movie was fairly faithful to the book.
That got kicked in the head about the middle of Book 2.
THERE IS SO MUCH STUFF THAT THEY LEFT OUT!!!!!
The story seems much more Epic, the circle of friends larger and the story more well developed in the graphic novels.
Whatever the movie didn't cut out, they rearranged. Some lines from one scene in the books are copypastad to a different scene in the movie or even a different character.
The fight between Roxy and Ramona in the movie is basically just the fight between Envy and Ramona in the books. Scott gets the Sword of Love much earlier (towards the end of book 4) and says the most badass line ever: "How's it going back there?" to Roxy, not Gideon.
However the books play some cruel jokes on the reader. The one that just made me rage was... you know how there's RickRoll? Well this book has a Backstreet Boys Roll.
Scott (to Ramona): I don't care who you are, or where your from. Or... what you did. As long as you love me.
Backstreet Boys- As Long As You Love Me
Anyways... more comments. _________________ Current Avatar commissioned work by Seiken Arts.

Well, yeah, a lot got left out. But the movie worked really well anyway.
I actually enjoy the movie more than the books.
