I'm going to be replacing the connector, and maybe disabling the lockout soon. Any advice? Or should an instruction video on youtube be good enough? |

The new connector never worked properly, so I boiled the old one that was seven years or older, with dead bugs and droppings stuck in it. It performed flawlessly. I played Crystalis from beginning to end last night with no glitching. |

I've been told that you should always replace the original 72 pin connectors with gold ones- but I've also heard that the gold ones aren't that gold. Investigate yourself and make your own choice.
The-8-bit-kid, an ebay seller, sells the gold connectors at 7.25 with free shipping. So far, he's the only guy I've come across on ebay that sells them anymore. I mean, it might be worth taking a look into. _________________ "...at first it's fine and you think you have a dark side – it's exciting – and then you realise the dark side wins every time if you decide to indulge in it. There was no gold plating on the new one. I wondered if that had anything to do with it after noticing the difference between the two of them. |

When I said gold the second time, I meant "good." I've heard conflicting reports on both sides. Like I said, it's worth investigating yourself to find out.
I myself got a gold one for my person NES, and I now replace 72 pins on other NES's and try and sell them. I got a bulk amount of spare NES games I'm cleaning and trying to sell, but it's difficult to find buyers these days. _________________ "...at first it's fine and you think you have a dark side – it's exciting – and then you realise the dark side wins every time if you decide to indulge in it.
