how much attention to you guys pay to lyrics in a song? do you like songs based on their lyrics, or are they just an extra instrument to listen to on top of everything else?
if you do have any lyrics with any special/significant/(lyrics you just think are awesome), do post them here. and the song it came from, maybe.
current songs i like are in russian, so none of you (with the possible exception of raini) would understand any of them. and the lyrics have little to do with one of them, i just really like the sound of it. another, however, i quite like the lyrics. but i cant find them anywhere =\
a song whos lyrics i do really like, ... *thinks* man this is difficult. i guess a few years ago i really liked the lyrics to Black Diamond - Stratovarius, because they seemed to be a perfect description of my interactions with a certain girl at school. The lyrics have lost most meaning to me, but the song remains awesome. _________________

Generally, I don't pay much attention to lyrics, unless they're exceptionally stupid (in which case, I just make fun of the song).
When I was growing up, I listened to a lot of oldies (thanks to my parents and the radio), so I know a fair bit about stuff from the '60s and '70s. Music from those days, while sometimes campy by today's standards, I generally like. Listening to some of that stuff, music then seemed to actually be about something. A lot of it today is too whiny and self-pitying (Simple Plan is the single biggest group of whiners I have ever heard on the airwaves). _________________

I do listen to lyrics in a song. Tough it doesnt make or break it. There many songs which I have no interest in lyrics although the sound is just what I like. There also many songs I like that dont include vocals at all.
Like "a gentle breeze" made by She. No lyrics at all, but its probably my favorite song at the moment. _________________ Gehaktbal, Frikandel, Bamihap

It depends on the song and the language it's in. Though there's a few songs where, I'll be listening to it as background music for the first time and something will click in lyrics for me, and I'll have to look them up. I end up liking a lot of songs like that.
Obviously with a lot of my "this song is from Ar tonelico!" I've been doing, I like songs with meaning as much as I like listening to stuff just because. The deal with AT is that the fictional language they're all in is alllll based on emotion, so there's always some meaning behind the songs.
As for the song that has kept the most meaning to me? Isn't a with-vocals song (well, not originally): Kaze no Toorimichi from My Neighbor Totoro (no, really, Raini? I mean the email you signed up with for TE is only kaze_no_toorimichi... ) I'm not really sure why it holds so much meaning, but I suppose it's because it's linked to some really fantastic childhood memories involving the movie and then I just got really attached to the song (plus, "Kaze no Toorimichi" sounds really pretty when spoken) so... yeah. _________________
