But nothing is more powerful than the Paling. A Paling is a glowing device made of a crystal that has been imbued with magical protective properties and extended to the walls of the city. Because of the energy within the Paling, it is a very dangerous and fragile object, and its creation should only be attempted by a group of the most powerful wizards.

Palings must be strategically located as the force of the spell must be able to reach to the walls of the kingdom or city you wish to defend.

Be warned, there is a simple dark spell known as Hope Shatter, which can undo a Paling. It is difficult to cast, but widely known. So you must place defenses upon your Paling, to protect it from evil-doers.
