The Assistant Manager at the hotel just told me something hilarious.

There was a man who purchased a flag from Dollar Tree, which had 61 stars on it, and they were upside down.

When she told this to our manager, she said: "That's terrible! They need to change it to 51."

"51?" My AM asked.

"Well, you have to include Hawaii."

Though I've heard stories about similar things being said before....when my dad was a Scout (back in the 60s) and went on an exchange trip to the States one summer, some of the Scouts there were apparently actually of the belief that Britain was just another state in the USA. *Le facepalm*
