This is a great Christmas present to us Zelda fans especially on the 25th anniversary. Now my worry mirrors Miyamoto's: that they'll start relying too heavily on the timeline as they make the new games, especially with rumors that Miyamoto may retire soon.
I wanted for tay120n64 to post this, since he is our resident Zelda Encyclopedia, but I just couldn't wait anymore.
I've been a Splitist since GameTrailers retrospective of Zelda because it made the most sense to me. And turns out they weren't too far off base from their predictions, they just failed to factor in a posibility of Link dying in OoT to be another branch of the timeline and they got to Oracle games completely wrong (who'd have thought they'd take place in the same timeline???)
Anyways, comment, enjoy. Do you really think an official timeline is gonna stop fanboys debating anyways? _________________ Current Avatar commissioned work by Seiken Arts.

looks awesome!
I always hoped there'll be a zelda where you can play in the war over the triforce which was mentioned in the LttP intro... _________________

I've been visiting TE less often, so it didn't even occur to me to post it here.
The timeline is almost like my most recent one, minus the third split. And the third split is actually caused when you go back in time to get the Lens of Truth and the Silver Gauntlets. You end up creating another alternate reality when you do that. It honestly never even occurred to me.
Regarding GameTrailers, I'm not convinced they actually played any Zelda games aside from Ocarina of Time. Oracle series in differing planes of reality? Like... Did your dumb asses even beat the game? They take place one-after-the-other. That was one of the worst and least thought-out timelines I had ever seen.
Honestly though, the left timeline is the only thing that didn't make sense up until now. It's odd that Four Swords Adventures is still considered part of the continuity, considering half of the game is a prequel to A Link to the Past and half of it is not. Oh, well. This is honestly better than I could ever have hoped. _________________

I thought the third split occurred when you first pulled the Master Sword and Ganon enters the Sacred Realm. Isn't that where Link "fails", and the "hero is defeated"?
Regardless of where it occurs, it seems to come out of nowhere, since I don't believe it was ever hinted anywhere, in any games, that Link ever failed to defeat Ganon. It seems a little random, as a way to lump the remaining games together so it all works out. _________________

I think it is. Especially considering the whole ordeal with Four Swords Adventures. _________________
