Okay so lately I've been playing a fuckload of board games with my family. I've seen the hotshit party game go in my lifetime from Cranium to Fluxx to Bang and if you don't know what those are, that sounds like an insane sentence.
But like, I think the scene has generally exploded over the past 30 years from Sorry and Monopoly to some wonderful cardboard and plastic games. I'll start by sharing this one and add some more as the thread goes on. Please share your favorites below!
Without further ado:
Tsuro, The Game of the Path
If you have a group of 3 to 6 people and you can't agree on what to play, play this. This is a simple setup, easy to understand game that takes about 15 minutes to play.
You choose your pawn and set position on one of the outer tabs. The space before you is a 6 x 6 grid on which you can setup tiles as you go. Each tile will have a path terminating in one of eight sections. The goal? To create a path for yourself that keeps you on the board without knocking into other players.
You are each handed three tiles at first, and go in orders, laying tiles down to create your path (and your path alone), replenishing as you go. With only 36 tiles, this game will rapidly lead into conflict and tough decisions that require foresight, but never so much thought that the game descends into a standstill. Also, side note, the piece and board construction is just gorgeous here. _________________ Current Avatar commissioned work by Seiken Arts.
