i dunno if you know our austrian habits, but if you turn 18 and finished school, its time for you to choose: army ( ) or "public service"... i've chosen the second one.
anyway, i made it to the red cross and now im working as an ambulance man, which is like the greatest thing you can ever imagine! Oo no, seriously, it really is amazing.
a free education, ~600 bucks a month (for 9 months and it's like twice as much as those guys at the "army" get but they have to do it for 6 months only) and as a side effect, you help people every day...
drug addicts, accident victims, old people who cant do anything anymore, people with heart diseases or similar guys, the list of people you can help is almost infinite. i never had to revived somebody, but i do hope i have to someday... not because i want to see dead people but i want to do all this stuff now, when there's somebody else who can help me or who can answer questions (we're always party two in the car)... and then, if an emergency happens when im alone, im not stressed with the situation or at least, not that much cause i can rely on my experiences, what i did right or what i did wrong...
anyway, the next 9 m onths are going to be quite exciting.... i hope _________________

I'm going to do armyservice.
Social service would be interesting too, but its 3 months longer, and I'd only do it for the extra-money.
(Yes, I'm quite heartless at times)
Also, I wouldn't be allowed to do any sports with weapons if I'd refuse to do armyservice. |

Glad to know you enjoy it.
In a similar vein, I've been considering paramedic training myself. Here, we're not volun-told to do public or army service; I was just thinking of it out of interest.
Just gotta learn how to drive an ambulance, is all. _________________

hehe actually, another nice side effect are the quite high tips you earn every day... 10-20 bucks a day divided by 2 or 3 (depending on how many medics are in the car) makes your purse grow even more hehehe _________________

I'm glad you have a job as an ambulance man.
So, how is your job going?

So you nudge them out of the way. Causing them to slip of the road and have a car crash into a tree also causing a chain reaction where 5 koala's on another part of the world die which requires another ambulance to move out ? _________________ Gehaktbal, Frikandel, Bamihap

I got to agree with Chicken ... who gives a fuck if the ambulance is right behind you, their light is flashing, and the siren is going on or not? I wouldn't care if they were, because they're busy, and also because I'm the one that isn't sick.
Glad to know you're liking your job.

Well, they have to move out of the way. Seconds could mean the difference between life and death, and nobody would want to waste those seconds away.
Interesting choice there, though if I were you, I'd have chosen fire department or law enforcement. _________________

1) true, very true =/
2) you know, you cannot chose ANYTHING... i think you cant work as a firefighter anyway (as a "public servant") maybe cause its too dangerous or your training would take too much time... same with law enforcement _________________

I changed my mind. I would actually care if the ambulance were behind you, because there is a big emergency, their light is flashing, and the siren is going on or off. If it was off, I'd still move out of the way as quickly as possible.
No hard feelings, Chicken.

Nah, if the lights are off, the ambulance is just a vehicle like any other...
And chicken was beeing sarcastic on the "appreciate those guys who dont give a fuck wether the ambulance is right behind them...." part.
Now that you cahnged your mind, Joseph, I assume your "who gives a fuck if the ambulance is right behind you, their light is flashing" is not ment sarcastic??
...as defense to those who don't move away: maybe they're overcharged by the situation, maybe there's not enough space at hand...
Of course, there are enough drivers who don't give a f**k or don't notice the ambulance because their car HiFi is cranked up so loud.

Yeah, it isn't meant sarcastic for my part. I changed my mind, because it's a good thing to move out of the way if an ambulance is behind you.
