|
|
I wanted to ask you all if there were any awesome RPGs (good characters, awesome plot, fun game systems, etc) that you knew of to recommend for me to buy/otherwise acquire.
Im after a game i havent played/finished before (i havent played too much in the world of games), and preferably not one of the following:
Secret of Mana/Evermore
Chrono Trigger
Illusion of Gaia
I ask not to recommend those because they are already up there on the games i will get around to playing in the near future.
So.. any suggestions? Also, feel free to also use this as a recommendation thread. _________________

Terranigma ^^
also played THE ELDER SCROLLS: OBLIVION a lot, but once you went through it a thousand times and found almost EVERYTHING on the map, it starts getting boring _________________

hey this exchange is as fast as some of my msn conversations.
Ive tried oblivion before, at a friend's place. It was a bit too open-ended, i think if i did manage to get into that game i wouldnt come out for a long long time. And i could play terranigma again, although i do know the plot more or less by heart, it wouldnt be the same as experiencing the awesomeness for the first time.
cheers for the tips though _________________

unlike morrowind. it's such a shame they couldn't keep up the atomosphere created in morrowind... _________________

by the time it was new the graphic was amazing. the only problem is that morrowind looks better the better your computer is, you almost can't change things manually. _________________

i found morrowind way too hard to get into. waaay too open-ended. tried once, killed something. nothing leveled up or gained experience so i rage-quit. never had the desire to play it lol. _________________

People tell me I have a strange taste in games, but...
Lufia 2 : Rise of the Sinistrels (Great oldschool SNES RPG)
Brain Lord (SNES Action RPG by Produce, reminds me a lot of the Quintet games to be honest)
Darkstone (PC Diablo clone)
Crystalis (NES Action RPG)
The Guardian Legend (NES, idk if you can consider ActionRPG/RPG or if neither, but it's kind of like Zelda)
Final Fantasy Legend II aka SaGa 2 (oldschool GB RPG)
Ys III (Sidescroller Action RPG for SNES/Genesis/NES)
Summon Night 2 (GBA RPG with sidescroller battles which don't suck unlike Tales series) _________________ Best Games Ever IMO :
1. Illusion of Gaia (SNES)
2. Star Fox (SNES)
3. LoZ : A Link To The Past (SNES)
I wonder what my favorite console is. |

What about the Final Fantasy series? There's only like, fifty of them to choose from, lol.
Of them though, I'd recommend the following:
FFIV
FFVI
FFVII
FFVIII
FFX
FFXII
FF Tactics (PS1 or PSP versions)
Crisis Core: FFVII
Kingdom Hearts I & II
Or hell even a Mario RPG:
Super Mario RPG
Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga
Paper Mario
Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
Other Reccomendations:
Golden Sun
Golden Sun: The Lost Age
Fallout 3 (It's Oblivion... with GUNS!)
Star Ocean First Depature
Star Ocean: Till the End of Time
Tales of Symphonia
Xenosaga (3 part series)
dot Hack (4 part series)
That's all I can think of right now. Was that helpful? _________________

wait wait wait. theres a sailor moon rpg? wow
and cheers for the advice guys, its helped. but now there are too many to choose from ><
alphaman - seeing as you like lufia 2, your game taste is awesome. that game is so unbelievably good. and i thought brain lord was a quintet game :S
ive played a few of the games mentioned, cant say theres any (other than morrowind) that i disliked at all.
do the old-school ff games (i define old-school to be before ff7) have the same depth in plot as 7 and 8? 'cause i'd definitely give em a go if they did.
golden sun is sitting on my desk, (i have the cartridge) but im stuck and cant quite bring myself to use a faq... ill get over that soon enough.
im actually really surprised no one mentioned grandia 2, that game blew my mind first time i played it _________________

Oh, definately. Final Fantasy VI probably has the best character development in the entire series. The story is rather weak in the NES games (1-3) but 4 and 6 both have engaging stories, with 6 of course being the best.
Actually, alot of ideas that were introduced in 6 have remained as staples in the series. It redefined Final Fantasy even more so than 7, aside from the level of presentation that 7 started. If you like Fianl Fantasy, definately give 6 a go. _________________

Nah didn't like the 6th, but the 5th was simply awesome. The job system and the world merging .... On the first world I already thought: Yeah that's it, there's the final boss, now go get your biggest hammer and go for it. But then a second world ... okay played through it and thought this definately has to be the end, but then all of a sudden the worlds merged and hell they got me on that one .
Nevermind you want a good suggestion: Suikoden I-III. Those 3 will keep you entertained for months ^^. _________________ AtW Studios
