they let you buy stuff, change your signature, etc. we dont have much of a use for it yet, but we are working on it _________________

you can try to buy a signature from rainichan, but the latency is more than 1 1/2 years  _________________

Like said, it's more of a novelty thing. Some forum features (like adding a custom title to your account) require you to pay a fee in Gems.
Members can also exchange Gems using the PM system.
Most of it is used to buy stuff from other members, like signatures and such.

The main place to spend Gems is at TerraEarth Main Street. Posters have custom shops and sell various items, or services in exchange for these funds. They are also offered as rewards in various Contest and Games events. _________________ Current Avatar commissioned work by Seiken Arts.
