Mega Man 10! OMG!

Capcom has just announced Mega Man 10 for WiiWare!

OMG I WANT THIS GAME SOOOO BAD!

Supposedly, you will be able to choose between three playable characters: Mega Man, Proto Man, and someone else (most likely Bass, but maybe not) The game will be much like Mega Man 9 was last year, only it will also feature an easy mode for noobs and weaklings.

Let's all get excited for some RETRO GAMING GOODNESS!!

I haven't finished Megaman 9 yet... well i have to complete Megaman 2, 3, 5, 6, replay 1 and 7 without savestates, and complete 8. So yeah.. i have too much to play I'll enjoy this summer...

Actually, the "X" in Mega Man X refers to the fact that the Mega Man character in that series is named "X". He is essentially the definitive version of Mega Man, and was Dr. Light's final creation before he died.

As Dr. Light grew older, he began work on an upgraded model of Mega Man that would be a full robot, but would have free will and show compassion to humans. This Mega Man was known as "Project X" and though it was completed before Dr. Light's death, it was left unawakened long past his demise. Likewise, Dr. Wily also created an ultimate robot, known as "Zero". Many years later, after countless wars had ravaged the earth, Dr. Cain found X and used his data to create the Reploids. His ultimate creation was Sigma, who was deemed the most powerful robot ever built. Eventually, Zero awakened and, because he was built by Dr. Wily, immediately started wreaking havoc until he was finally stopped by Sigma. The program that had caused Zero to act so violently was mostly destroyed in the battle, but remnants of it found a new home in Sigma. This program became known as the Maverick Virus, and was the leading cause of rogue Reploids in the early Mega Man X games. Due to the outbreak of Mavericks, a special task force known as Maverick Hunters was created and was led by X and Zero.</fanboy>

That's essentially the set-up for Mega Man-Mega Man X. The story continues with Mega Man Zero, Mega Man ZX, and Mega Man Legends. However, there is debate on whether Mega Man X 6-8 should be considered canon.

there's quite a mega man universe out there! so, if there's X, where's megaman in this timeline, and where's the difference between both?

Mega Man came first. When X is created, Mega Man is still around, but by the time X wakes up and the first Mega Man X game takes place, Mega Man is dead.

The Mega Man X series takes place about a century after the original Mega Man series.

Mega Man is an android, whilst X is a full-fledged robot. X is the first Reploid, which is essentially a robot with free will.
