That. I want to know if anyone here was able to find all the 50 Red Jewels without looking at a guide/FAQ/walkthrough or watching any video...
I have beat the game like 3 times. A couple times many years ago, and a third one some days ago... After reaching the last save point, i only have 43 Jewels. I looked at every possible place when playing.. i got every treasure chest, but i am still missing 7 jewels...
So i decided to simply look at the Red Jewels 'guide' here at Terra Earth. But I wonder, How possible is to find them all without a guide?

Growing up, I had the instruction booklet, which has all the locations in it, so my entire life, I've known where every one of them is off-hand.
However, some Red Jewels are nearly impossible without a guide:
Fisherman's Gem in South Cape you would never find, unless you got damn lucky.
Most of the environment-hidden Gems like the logs in Itory, THE POT IN DIAMOND COAST, the Trash Cans in Freejia, the alleyway in Euro, the grass in Dao, and the background-chest in Tower of Babel are hard to find unless you just like to click on EVERYTHING.
Then of course there's the hidden room in Diamond Mine, visiting Lance after arriving at Euro (which is the only time the game ever requires you to back-track), and the secret path in Freejia (where you have to jump into the flower bed).
And as overwhelming as Seaside Palace/Mu can get, its really easy to pass over Gems there.
Some of these locations are ridiculous, for serious. _________________

I'm playing through it for the first time now. I'm using the Terra Earth website to find all the red jewels. I don't have much time to spend on gaming lately, (schooool ) so I like to do a 100% run even on the first try _________________ Hey. I'm Fazermint. And I'm Juicy!

i never had the manual, and after collecting about 35 of the jewels by accident at the end... i was like "ok, what were they for?"
then someone on TE told me they unlocked a dungeon. i didnt like the game enough to replay it so soon (if i get to that at all), so if i really want to do the dungeon ill dl a save or something _________________

I think on my first playthrough, I wound up with about 38 or so.
Most of them aren't difficult to find, and you'll find all you need to get the good prizes without too much trouble. But some, like the fisherman in South Cape, are damn near impossible. How can anyone reasonably be expected to find that one on their own? You could come and go from indoors and out 50 times and not find it.
Although, if you do find them all, you at least get the satisfaction of knowing you've crushed the slave trade. _________________

I tried, but had to resort to a guide. My first playthrough of the game I probably found roughly what you did. The same goes for the original Soul Blazer... I never even knew how to find the "Lucky Blade" because I had no idea you had to move that one flower pot in order to get "The Pass."
I also never found all 8 emblems without help. I think I found five, and for years, had no idea where the others were.
(Side note: Found all the information here at TE ) _________________ "...at first it's fine and you think you have a dark side – it's exciting – and then you realise the dark side wins every time if you decide to indulge in it. If I remember right, you can go back as far as Angel Village, but anything before that (like the fisherman in South Cape) is gone for good once you get there. _________________

You can't start backtracking until after Angel Village. Everything from that point on is accessible at any time, but everything before that is inaccessible once you move on to the next area. _________________

Glad it wasn't just me. I always came close, but never all. Still havent been to the secret level yet. I think if I haven't been able to find all 50 after almost 20 years, it's time to use a guide.
It's not like it requires great gaming skill or reflexes to find them all, just a lot of meticulous searching. So I guess my ego will survive the hit if I break down and use a guide. |
