This is something I thought of about my faith in a different angle, I got a bit inspired when I remembered about the book titled " Sophie's World" by Jostein Gaarder.
Please keep in mind that it's just something I wish to share and throw around with you guys for feedback, also this was written with the assumption that God exists, so bear with me.
There is a God, we're but figments of her imagination of a world she created and would be writing a story about.
Now think about it, suppose you create a world where you designed the very canvas of science with finely-tuned variables, you have characters runing rampant in your head and basically taking a life of their own. Can you really know that they, in their own sense, have their own sense of reality living in the world you created with constants finely-tuned for life to happen? Now suppose WE are figments of God's imagination, and the seven days she took to create the universe were seven days of thinking out, brainstorming her story and the universal constants that we live in. What if God is omnipotent and omniscient because she can bend the course of the story, do rewrites and because she thought of every single thing that happens in this world?
The Book of Life could have been the title of the story she want to write in her world and maybe heaven would mean to be written into the book and fuel the imagination of the people who read it and hell would mean to be portrayed as villains and be tortured inside the minds of their readers.
The reason there was no evidence of her presence is because of the 4th wall barrier that separates us from her. However we could see various workings of her via the little miracles in life that just doesn't seem to add up.
As for Lucifer/Satan, I'd say that he's a muse turned renegade.
Ever created a world of your own and have characters that have taken a life of their own and interact inside your mind? Don't look now, but you might very well be the deity of your own world. _________________

That's an interesting thought. I've sometimes wondered if everything around us is just someone's dream, and when they wake up, we'll all cease to exist.... but this takes it a bit further, and says that God created us as a story to tell.
Hmm... would God get the Pulitzer, or would the story bomb? _________________

It really isn't anything new. The Matrix sort of touched upon this, but instead decided to create 'a world within ours' instead of the HIGHLY controversial 'our world in someone elses'. Ya know what I mean?
Oh yeah, the book of life. Almost forgot about it. _________________

Judging from all the different kinds of shit that happens in this world, I'd say definitely the pulitzer. ^^
Aoiga : Yeah, many people have thought of the world as a dream. I would go so far as to say that living might be the equivalent of dreaming. _________________

What if we're a video game of God's? And yes, I mean that in all seriousness.
Sorry, too much Star Ocean 3. And if you're playing Star Ocean 3, and haven't gotten to 4D space...well, you just saw the stupid plot twist from me, so if you wanna see the plot twist, highlight after "the main characters"
I guess playing SO3 is getting to me. In the part I just went through (Planet Styx -> 4D space where the Creator resides), the main characters just found out that they're part of an elaborate video game for those in 4D space. The "Creator" was the one who created the game, and the ones calling themselves the Executioners are just big bad bosses you can't defeat all at once. (If you can still see that, don't read it =P)
Kind of an interesting theory, I guess.
As for the one Joan posted, I think I've always thought that. ^^ _________________

It would be funny if there were levels of conciousness.
God would be at the top.
Angels second.
We third.
Animals 4th.
Plants 5th.
Robots 6th.
Like if what makes us tick would be the same that make robots tick and that would even be the same thing that makes God tick.
But if that's so, we would't be aware enough of it to say so. |

"Sophie's World"... Is that a Novella? Or a short story?
I think I may have read a summary of it in Asimov's or something. _________________

Ah, (And I do not mean to offend at all) this sounds more or less like the imagination running wild than an actual philosophy, intermingled with New Age movement beliefs. I mean, while it may be intellectually stimulating considering we are in ‘another person’s/god’s world’, it really has no factual base. |

Well, someone has to make our philosophies don't they? I think it's okay to speculate unless it conflicts with one of your already fully-established beliefs. _________________
