musical instruments

dunno if this thread has been made before, but i didnt see one on immediate examination.

to the point: how many of you play musical instruments (ive gathered that at least a few of you do), and what are your influences?

and by musical instruments i mean anything that makes tolerable sound, whetther it be a guitar, drums, ocarina, wooden box, etc etc.


i play guitar, have been for a while. i used to play a bit of piano, but thats descended into me being able to play one song (tetris), and i dont even play that one well.

influences are mainly power metal, namely Kamelot, Stratovarius and the like... but also some classical music (which basically comes into power metal also).

I play guitar myself, I have an electric and an accoustic guitar and I've been playing for 4 years now, though I'm not THAT good.

I don't have influences, since I don't write music, but I listen to all kinds of Metal (Black, Melodic Black, Death, Melodic Death, Heavy, Thrash, Speed, and also Power Metal)

I also like classical music, and other music genres, I have an open ear for everything that sounds good!

And by the way: I've seen Stratovarious with Hammerfall as support 3 years ago

thats so lucky! hardly anyone comes to australia... ive only seen Dragonforce and Nightwish live so far, but Children of Bodom coming soon and i want to see them.

I'm playing the organ these days. Right now, the two songs I really like to play are "Linkin Park - What I've Done", and the Halloween theme song.

I can play the piano to a point. I didn't really have any influences when I started to play (I was young, like, 6 years old), but I really liked it.

i was playing drums too when i was a lil boy with like 5-7 or something... didnt really PLAY them, just bashed around XD

I played guitar for about 4 years when i was around 10, and later i was in a choir for young boys (even on TV ), somewhat gay but it brings huge lungs for smoking

I love collecting all kinds of instruments.

Right now, I have:

Full Drum Set (Mostly ProCussion stuff)
B.C. Rich Beast Guitar
DeArmond Pilot Pro V 5-string electric bass
Tenor Sax (Yamaha I think?)

I also somtimes drum with my pens.

I play the flute and the Ocarina. Granted I'm a little out of practice, but it's like riding a bike, you never forget how.

(At this point, I'd like to point out that I never learned how to ride a bike)

well you may forget specifics, like how to play some songs, but i find usually it doesnt take too much mucking around to get back to where you were.

I have played the drums a wee bit borrowed gamiechans set lol and the piano one handed of course hahaahah ^_^

i restringed my guitar the other day, sounds awesome now. and my friend bought a new amp, which sounds infinitely more awesome. and i went over his house with my guitar and played it
