Strategy:

Though it may seem intimidating, Metal Mantis is quite the pushover! Start the battle by moving to the side, away from its Fireballs. It will shoot these whenever you are directly below it or across the room from it. Lure it over to one side, being careful not to get too far ahead, then dash up the middle ramp and attack. If you lured it over far enough, you should be able to get 1 or 2 hits in before it strikes with its arm. You can then do one of two things: either alternate luring it between the right and left sides, or lure it repeatedly back to the same side. The important thing to remember here is not to get overconfident when you attack, or you are bound to get hit. Another rather useful tactic is to hold L/R the whole time. This will give you better maneuverability while on the ramps, and will make it easier to damage Metal Mantis without getting hit. Either way, play it cautious and you should make it just fine.
